Deadite: Source is primarily a co-operative total conversion zombie modification for the Half Life 2 engine ;

:: Premise ::
The action takes place in a not so distant futuristic setting where the world has been plagued by hordes of the undead. While cities may forestall the terror with strong walls and an immense military presence, the imminent threat and a constant need for supplies is always evident; that's where you come in.

The mod will be composed primarily of dark and run-down environments rich in texture and grit, but the player will occasionally stumble on pristine areas that have been untouched by the infestation.

  • Specialized Human Characters & Unique Player Classes
  • Immersive Soundscapes
  • HDR Enhanced Map Locations

At the moment, production is being geared toward the co-operative element, but here is a brief description of game modes we intend to include:

> Co-op Gameplay
Using either an Internet or LAN connection, players will be able to create servers and become part of a 4-8 man squad commissioned to aid the human race against a global infestation. These squads are commissioned on both Government and Corporate contracts with a list of objectives to be completed. Players proceed to eliminate threats and secure objectives. The undead forces will be composed of NPCs, although the team is discussing the option of controlling non-human characters in the co-operative setting.

> Online Multi-player
A more standard deathmatch environment pits players directly against one another with the option of choosing from either undead, cybernetic, or human characters balanced specifically for multiplayer deathmatch, and players will discover a unique arsenal of weapons at their disposal.

Plus many more game modes such as ctf, lockdown and sanitation.

> Single-Player Campaign
Geared toward players who dont have amazing connections or like the thrill of being immersed in a story, this gametype will be focused on you doing solo and also group missions but where you are the only player-controlled party.

*note* at the moment development is being geared towards online multiplayer elements, so the campaign may be some time in coming.

:: History ::
Started as a 3 hour long discussion into the way we founders feel we could theory design a zombie/undead themed modification.

It was developed more and we already have a website/forums, plus our experiences at former mods adding with strong leadership skills to get this project moving forward.

:: Objective ::
To create an immersive environment with unique and engaging gameplay options with the help of a quality team. The ultimate goal, however, is to present gamers with something different, new, and fun to play.

This isnt a complete unravelling of the mod. This mod MAY come back into the mix if crysis gets a lot of modding attention (i.e i have other projects im more hardcore to promote and work on with my time).

exm the leader is inactive from contact with me and some others he used to be so the temp forums died and im not feeling up to leading it all.

If modder(s) want to take this idea over, id be willing to host site and server in time and help out day to day on forums etc making game decisions, but i wont be leading the team thats certain.

Hey, I'd be willing to sign up even if you don't have anything to show. I'd like to tryout for the first mapper set (1+ years for church/cemetary, subway, etc.). I have over a year, almost 2 experience with Hammer, and over the past few months I've been really experimenting and expanding my skills with lighting and other abilities of Hammer. I'm only going to be 17 in October (Halloween, by the way), but I feel that if I really push myself I can fulfill your needs to the fullest. I'm also a well-developed artist, which is one thing I want to go to college for. I've been recently accepted into the portfolio prep and art studio ap classes at my highschool, which are by selection only. I was one of about 15 students (out of a school of almost 5,000) picked for both. Wreck,the help wanted is a guideline to help us find quality applicants, not a set of demands. We're more than willing to make exceptions on a case by case basis. Also, we're really just building a framework at the moment and honestly not expecting a flood of applicants.

And, if it's any consolation, all of the current developers have extensive experience working for Goldeneye: Source.

I dont know, that brings up legal issues and we dont even mean the mod to be a tribute or based off any existing franchise. If a 3rd party someone thinks the character could look good in our setting once they see more, they are most welcome of course and we would support such efforts by hosting '3rd party packs' through the forum. But it wont be us, for legal and more pressing reasons - we have our own mod to make ;)

That would be no (its fractionally george A. romero influenced), not conciously but obviously we arent cornering any original idea and its just our take on the zombie fad. What we plan to do is steer the concept of zombies into an experience where its not just about killing zombies, ie the reason for their being other elements like demons - to break the standard notion of gameplay where the zombies only variance to the norm is health and speed.

Of course we decided to do this because we think we can better the genre. Can we? thats whats to look out for and more will come to light once we progress.
