Dead Air is a full-scale S.T.A.L.K.E.R. modification based on Call of Chernobyl. It changes all aspects of the game, from graphics, audio, and special effects to various gameplay and AI features. The modification evolves from the ideas started in Call of Misery, a previous project from the mod’s author. Major inspirations for Dead Air have been projects such as NLC, MISERY, Autumn Aurora, and OGSE. Dead Air prioritises the development of the game platform’s potential, gameplay complexity, and attention to detail, along with addressing both the quality and quantity of all content.
An Overhaul to the Perk System to bring more Variety and RNG to starting a new character
All Required Add-ons are now optional and are now Comparability patched in if wanted. (DAOO and Faction Selection). Also older 0.98a build available for those interested.
Meant to be played In Ironman Mode but you always have the option of using this for a full play-through. This Add-on is in it's early stages and may unbalance the game even though I'm trying to preserve the games difficulty. Most perks in this Add-on have a randomization factor to them. Meaning, if you pick a low tier SMG to start with, you will start with one random low tier SMG from a list of low tier SMG's.
I have gone through all the weapons in Dead Air and have divided them up into tier sections. Armor is tiered and randomized as well. The tiered backpacks are filled with a day or two worth of supplies to survive in the zone. The skills have also been overhauled. Now you receive items that seem to have some relevance to that skill, making the skills to be more like professions.
There's a total of 31 new perks added and the perk's are divided into 5 sections: [W] Weapons, [P] Pistols, [A] Armors, [B]Backpacks, [S]Skills plus 1 bonus perk to add RNG to the starting skills.

[S]Tinkerer - Receive the Inventor Skill. Start with a Tier 1 Craft-kit and Random junk to craft with.
[S]Army Cook - Receive the Strong Stomach Skill. Start with a Stove and fuel to cook with. also 2 random grenades and a booby-trap
[S]Scuba Diver - Receive the Lead Backpack Skill. Start with a closed Air-Tank system and a QRS.
[S]Blacksmith - Receive the Steady hand Skill. Start with a random High Tier Weapon Repair Kit along with a Random Melee weapon and iron plate.
[S]Big Game Hunter - Receive the Blade-master and Butcher Skills. Start with a random Thicc Knife and a sharpening stone.
[S]Drug Dealer - Receive the Intimidation Skill. Start with a Drug Kit and 5 Random Drugs.
[S]Night Owl - Receive the Mindfulness Skill. Start with a HeadLamp, Binoculars and Intel you found.
[S]Road Side Picnic - Receive the Geologist Skill. Start with a home made Detector and a Lead Box.
S.P.E.C.I.A.L. - Start with a random number of character skills with the original 9 to choose from. On average, start with 5 different skills with a very small chance to receive all 9 skills. (For example, like rolling a 9 sided dice 9 times and getting 4,4,5,6,6,7,8,8,8 will get you skills 4,5,6,7,8)
Although originally created to match the brutal fact that death is permanent when you play in Ironman mode, a lot of perks here may seem like they make the game easier. I assure you whatever gear that appears too powerful to have so early on becomes a burden as you have to pay the high price of maintenance and finding ammo. We all know some ammo is rare, and with no bullets that powerful gun becomes useless. The randomization factor balances as you wont get the exact gun you want from the tier list.
That being said please play test and provide Feedback. That could be anything from perk name suggestions, to letting me know if a perk is too over/under-powered in your opinion. A major wall in this project was that any perk beyond perk 31 is broken and I am not sure how to make it work to have more perks. If some one can solve this I will expand on the amount of perks in this add-on greatly. I originally had close to 90 perks in mind.
