DarkTruths (DT) is a huge single player project that was started in 2001 and will hopefully be released at the end of 2003 should everything stay on schedual. The aim is simple. Recreate the HL game by combining everything from HL and Op4 with fresh new ideas and technology allowing for one of the largest single player experiences since Op4 itself.
Along with enhanced visuals the project offers over 500 appearences to humans like black ops and security guards, a new skeletal system that allows for facial expressions that are linked directly to the Ai allowing for real time expresions for the humans in what we call the Emotion system. Pain, anger and fear will all be clearly visible.
We also have a wide range of all new non player characters (npc's) including favourites from op4 like the Shocktrooper and gonome.
In total the mod has over 50 unqiue features which is far more than we can list here but is covered in detail on our website and in our message forums.

After a week of misery and disapointment about no one stepping forwards to take over from the programmer who left us, the team felt that it was time to consider accepting defeat and let DT die off... but lo and behold there was a shining light in the distance.. two in fact.
The first is a fairly new entry to the HL mod scene but with 3 years of C++ programming experience called Dark Monkey, he is going to be taking over from our last programmer directly by picking up where N235 left off. However there is also a second programmer starting with us and one who is closely affiliated with the Valve ERC.. none other than Zipster himself who has lenghty HL experience and even did an intership with Westwood studios in the past. Due to his outstanding record of achievements and veteran status amoung the HL programming community he's been tasked with dedicating himself to continuing the advanced AI half finished by Laurie Cheers allowing Laurie himself to focus on side project directly related to DarkTruths and entitled Aurora.
You can expect an update on the DT website once these new programmers have settled in showing off videos as well as new screenshots.

Tal-n was becoming suicidal. I don't think it's generally a good idea to put yourself under the pressure making a mod entails, especially when you're /that/ depressed.
Give the guy a break. There are talks of a HL2 DT resurrection, anyway.

So did I. Ive talk to Tal-N and the members. And I knew they where good workers. But Until today. I didn't want to believe that this mod is dead. Well, its sad to me. :(

Dark Truths is indeed dead. We (the programmers) don't intend to work on coding it anymore, and so we've open-sourced it. SourceForge has agreed to host the source code package. The URL for the web-page containing links to the license and the project (where you may download the package) is at the bottom of this message. As a final note, and I've said this elsewhere but I think it merits repeating, the source code package is offered AS-IS and no support whatsoever for it will be given. Any requests for support, help, clarification, etc. will be promptly ignored; We are busy doing other things.
