Sanity has been tweaked to be more sensitive to light and any sanity-reducing events (darkness, enemies, etc.). Your lantern also drains more quickly. Use your lantern wisely. Not a jumpscare-fest.

This mistake had taken me by surprise and upset me :[
If you were to DL the original v1.1 CS, you would be given a CS that started halfway through instead of at the beginning. This was terrible, because anyone who DLed this version and played it, experienced the best parts in the worst ways (no lantern). And those that somehow completed it, would most likely not want to re-play it with a working version. It's been spoiled for them.
If you downloaded v1.1 before Saturday, May 6th, you have the original copy that doesn't work properly. Currently, the CS being offered by Gamefront is still the original copy. Please DL from moddb's mirror. Go ahead and DL from the Gamefont mirror, as it's faster. If you do not start out in a bunker with dead bodies, you have a broken copy. The fix is below.
TO FIX IF YOU HAVE ORIGINAL v1.1:
1. Go into the Dark Seclusion folder and find custom_story_settings.cfg
2. Open with Notepad.
3. Change "Level_3.map" to "Level_Beginning.map"
4. Save.

-4 cause of meaningless jumpscares in form of suddenly approaching monsters that poff into dust when they reach you.
Just one of them is one to much. They destroy the whole atmosphere of the story.
The characters arent Daniel, who is mentally ill and gets haunted by pieces of his own, messy memorys.
I liked the poltergeist-part. With the corpse under the cealing and the corridor but... *spoileralert* .
Ah yes and all the rooms are a bit to big and empty.
They feel not natural. Everything else was okay and the CS
got high potential.
Well, if you want to read into it that much. One could argue that they are mental breakdowns brought on by PTSD. You character starts off in a bunker, after nearly starving to death, and watching his colleagues die slowly. His sanity isn't in the greatest condition.
I agree that the size of the rooms were a bit of a problem. But that's a lesson learned when making your first full CS.
Overall, I'll take this as constructive criticism :D.
Then add that bit of lore into the story....
Really good game. lol you really fooled me when you said "not a jump scare fest". and the part with the body floating along the ceiling? scared me shitless. BUT, there are something you should fix. Getting to that lever down in the flooded offices was really hard since i went insane while crossing the water multiple times, and you cant stand on barrels, so i was attacked while trying to flip the lever. My personal opinion is that you should only have either fast oil drain or faster sanity drain, NOT BOTH. That makes it very diffecult. And lastly: AUTOSAVES!!! i fell into a glitch after you switch the lever in the flooded offices. When i went to go down stairs, i ran into the corner to the right of the top of the stairs, and i went through the wall, fell, and was not able to get out. I quit, and went back to the game, and i was going to just load an autosave, but there was none, so ill never be able to see the ending, since im not going through that all again. But other than that, AWESOME game. hope to see some more of your custom stories
Sorry to hear that. This was my first multi-level CS, and I thought that implementing Checkpoints was good enough. I really need to look into AutoSaves now. I'll also address the stairs issue.
As for the barrels, I'll leave one candle on the wall lit, as to help with sanity and allow the player to notice that they can light multiple candles on the wall. And it is possible to land on a barrel safely, though it's hard. You could lure the enemy away from the lever, then run like hell to flip the lever. For that one I'll think about :D.
I'll also tweak the drain rates a bit.
As for the jumpscares, there aren't very many at all. Just implying that it's not loaded with them like some CSs.
