Out of food, water, and ammo, you (the last remaining of your group) leave your underground bunker out of desperation in search of salvation. You will start out weak with low sanity. Your bunker is littered with the corpses of those you once knew.
Sanity has been tweaked to be more sensitive to light and any sanity-reducing events (darkness, enemies, etc.). Your lantern also drains more quickly. Use your lantern wisely. Not a jumpscare-fest.

This mistake had taken me by surprise and upset me :[
If you were to DL the original v1.1 CS, you would be given a CS that started halfway through instead of at the beginning. This was terrible, because anyone who DLed this version and played it, experienced the best parts in the worst ways (no lantern). And those that somehow completed it, would most likely not want to re-play it with a working version. It's been spoiled for them.
If you downloaded v1.1 before Saturday, May 6th, you have the original copy that doesn't work properly. Currently, the CS being offered by Gamefront is still the original copy. Please DL from moddb's mirror. Go ahead and DL from the Gamefont mirror, as it's faster. If you do not start out in a bunker with dead bodies, you have a broken copy. The fix is below.
TO FIX IF YOU HAVE ORIGINAL v1.1:
1. Go into the Dark Seclusion folder and find custom_story_settings.cfg
2. Open with Notepad.
3. Change "Level_3.map" to "Level_Beginning.map"
4. Save.

Good story, you should fix some of the textures in the Main Hub area. The music was great, I was running out of oil and potions which made it tons more challenging than I had expected. On the Library, before I grabbed the key on the table, I stacked up 2 chairs and a box so that incase a monster spawned after I grabbed it, I could climb up ontop of the bookshelves, what do you know, grabbed the key, monster spawned, climbed up and made it out. You should fix that there. And on the flooded offices, I walked along the edges of the wall when the water monster showed up. Fix that, too. Other than that, great story.
Glad you liked it. Rather than preventing someone from doing what you've done, I'd like to embrace it. Cleverness rewarded you. I like that.

I liked this one, but I didn't complete the level seeking puzzle, I accidently just finished the story lol.
Tell ya what, I for one loved this, well still am because it's a bit too scary to finish at the moment. Anyway, I've recently been going into CS' thinking they'll be a breeze and typical with out scares, but this is brilliant, the way the oil depletes, the music, just everything, really has me on edge 13/10
If you installed many custom stories, this custom story will may occur a problem with loading the maps.
Tip: you don't have to put amnesia sound effects into your sound file.

10/10 this CS is great i dont like the fast oil and sanity drain but i have been trying to make a CS myself and i had the same idea that this has an armory with an abundance of oil then not much further on also the whole underground bunker thing now i dont need to keep trying to master the level editor

-4 cause of meaningless jumpscares in form of suddenly approaching monsters that poff into dust when they reach you.
Just one of them is one to much. They destroy the whole atmosphere of the story.
The characters arent Daniel, who is mentally ill and gets haunted by pieces of his own, messy memorys.
I liked the poltergeist-part. With the corpse under the cealing and the corridor but... *spoileralert* .
Ah yes and all the rooms are a bit to big and empty.
They feel not natural. Everything else was okay and the CS
got high potential.
Well, if you want to read into it that much. One could argue that they are mental breakdowns brought on by PTSD. You character starts off in a bunker, after nearly starving to death, and watching his colleagues die slowly. His sanity isn't in the greatest condition.
I agree that the size of the rooms were a bit of a problem. But that's a lesson learned when making your first full CS.
Overall, I'll take this as constructive criticism :D.
Then add that bit of lore into the story....
