Dark Interval is a restoration/revision mod that lets you play Half-Life 2 as it could have been. Using Valve's early concepts, we're creating new maps, models, textures, and custom dialogue. The mod is released in episodes, the most recent being Dark Interval: Part I - an intro chapter to the bigger story.

By that logic, Black mesa is a horrible mod because models from the original are reused in it as well.

Lmao, stfu. Yes they're using the fungus, but their models have been touched up to not just straight up be the hl1 models, they're actually higher quality than the original models. They don't need to put extra effort into **** as small as the fungus though, they do their job and they do it well, quit your bitchin' BOI.

A highly reasonable and level-headed response to an illogical tantrum.
Kudos to you, sir.

What kind of worm buried inside your brain? Such high levels of violence on your comment for no reason at all towards everyone involved...

How dare you respond him like that, you piece of horrible ****? If he wants to use models from Half-Life, then he can use models from Half-Life. If you can do better than him, then go ahead, you wormy ****.

The HL1 model used for the light fungus isn't even a direct port of it. It's been modified so it matches HL2's art style better. Even if it doesn't, it does not warrant the insane response that lunatic gave.

Will the fungus have any secret purpose or are they just props?

Cause I saw the other plants exploding and dropping nuggets.

Either way its still amazing.

Their only secret purpose is to be convinient sources of colored light, and I don't think they need anything else

They are just props. The things you saw being popped were actually alien animals called polyps (well, I think they are probably stationary animals given the name and what they were originally going to be before getting cut from Half-Life 2). The young version gives you nuggets that heal you, but the adult ones release a toxic gas cloud.

Description

As we're creeping towards tying all our maps into one playable sequence, these "digger caves" are the latest link connecting Eli's junkyard and late wasteland levels. The main feature of these antlion-riddled caves is the digger - an unusual vehicle cut from Half-Life sometime after 2002.
