Gameplay plan so far; Each Great Battle in the books will be waves of stacks, some of which will have awesome generals (Glaurung, Gothmog, Balrogs, Sauron, Battle Trolls maybe, etc.) but most will be crappy Orcs and such that are easy enough to mop up if there are still enough ally factions around to help out. Helping allies survive these waves, and surviving yourself, as best as possible and rebuilding inbetween these waves to survive the next will be a major point in gameplay in Beleriand, or obviously allying with Morgoth. In the expanded map/restricted map campaigns running away and hiding in Middle-Earth may be wiser unless you ally with Morgoth. The Host of Feanor is always at war with Morgoth and whomever owns a Silmaril (one will be floating around after Beren dies). I will need gameplay testers soon so I am posting here.

More units have been made available to Noldor factions for the update. Men factions will be reorganized when I get the chance, they mainly play a support role so are not the priority right now. I will probably play those factions most myself though so they will get much love.

When the second age campaign comes out, does the island of Numenor have couple of cities like Armenelos and Andunie or only one l. And can player prevent the downfall.

Possibly, it really just depends on if the region could be put to better use elsewhere. If it is there it will still take forever to sail there even though it will be close by in game. It will probably just be the eastern tip with one settlement and all buildings pre-built.

Yes you can prevent the downfall playing as that faction, playing as another faction, even the other Numenor faction, probably not.

First of all: Great job! I have always dreamed about playing such mod, so big thank you.

I played it for some time and I discovered some things I think could be better (first age campaign):

1) there is settelment called Ruins of Angren, in south Beleriand which is surrounded by forests and rivers that you can not get there with an army.

2) When you capture evil settelments like Gates of Angband, you will get time to time five orc units even if you are playing elves. (I see that it should be boost for evil, but it should probably stop when is settelment captured by good.

3) Balrogs are too easily defeatable in auto battles: Army of 20 Balrogs is defeated by 300 elves.

4) Morgoth forces should be more agressive. they are always attacking with only one army, intead of massive attack. Also more Olog hai and trolls in their armies would be nice

5) please add some settelment on Balar Island (now in Sirion heavens region)

6) rename some middle earth settelments like Minas Tirith or Edoras to some Orc camp or something like that. (moreover there should be settelment called minas tirith on tol sirion island)

7) Too easy establishing peace with Morgoth: every time you want peace with him, you need just ask. I would unerstand, that he would like to take me as vassal, ud normal peace is just strange.

8) hords attacking: Hords are attacking everybody, even their former allies. And as easily as they attack you they establish peace with you.

9) Mines with no money: there are ussually elven mines, which have only 55+ income, even though those kingdoms should be really rich. There are also some expensive buildings with even smaller income.

10) graffic crashes: I dont know why, but battles with balrogs, spiders and other beasts are crushing the game.

i think some of those items need new scripting to get correct and fix anyway i agree with them and hope you correct and fix them properly...DAC mod had fixed crash problems of TATW mod... i hope that!

I doubt that I will add a settlement to the island, the rest I will get fixed though. Thanks for reporting it.

Try using the z3n BAI if you are using vista/8+. I you already are using that and it is still crashing let me know.

i installed the core files on the third age folder and then the third age campaign and it didn't run the mod!

It is installed right if you were already playing, but vista/8+ do not like these .bat launchers used to swap campaigns. Probably due to not having enough privileges to write files (use Properties to give Full Privileges for writing or everything to the entire mod folder) since the .bat isn't getting to do its job, that is what all the warnings say. I have experienced this myself with a laptop using Win 8.1 so it isn't a problem with the mod.

OR just install the Third Age Campaigns installer then start your game with your usual shortcut, that is why those installers are there, so you don't have to use the swappers (which are for me until I get around to making a proper launcher.

Use the Third Age Campaigns installer (just install that alone over what you already have installed to switch from First Age to Third Age) instead of the swappers if you cannot figure out how to get the swappers to work on Win 10, the Campaign swappers and the 'Campaigns' installers both put the right files in the right place in a different way.

There is no need to install the 'PCP Core Files Setup' more than once, so no you don't need it again. The 'Campaigns' installers can be used alone to swap campaigns without the 'Core Files Setup'.

you probably didn't understand my meaning i tell it properly:

i installed the TATW mod on my game(D:\Medieval II - Total War\mods\Third_Age_3) and then at the first time installed the PCP_Files_Installer on the TATW folder and then First_Age_Installer on it and then Third_Age_installer on it too and then i renamed the mod folder to Third_Age_PCP and when i runt the 3rd_Age.bat it opened the main game!

is it a right way or not?

what do i have to do?

and when i edit the batch file and rename Third_Age_PCP to Third_Age_3 it runs the mod but at the beginning suddenly went out without any messages!!

ok guy i resolved the problem for myself certainly so i went in this way:

1.i installed the TATW mod on my game(D:\Medieval II - Total War)
2.installed the PCP_core_files and then Third_Age_installer in a new folder
3.copied data files to data folder of TATW(D:\Medieval II - Total War\mods\Third_Age_3\data) replaced similar files
4.runt the Third Age-shortcut on desktop and opened the mod
5.played the Third Age Campaign in game menu and then in the game i check the z3n BAI for battles
6.returned to custom battle and selected mordor with a fell rider and gondor with a gondor infantry and started the battle without any problems! and also in the camp battles!

but about fellbeasts they need better model and animation like fells in TLOTR mod for rome 1 and even better!

All models/textures I added will be redone eventually. They are temp placeholders for testing balance in battle and in the campaign.

I only spent 5 mins on the flying animations since I had no clue whether it was even worth doing, now that I know how to get them functioning well enough I will probably make some proper animations.

very good so this mod will be a great mod with the good modeled and animated items! so don't forget Sauron animation too! if i could to help you about this mod i would be very happy but excuse me because i don't know modding of medieval, i am moderator of rome ii but i will advertise for this mod be sure!

the eldars armors are very shining and their animation is incorrect pls correct them.

and actually pls correct units and characters animations most of them have wrong anim :)

Where can I get the Z3n Bai? I keep hearing it pop up whenever someone has battle CTD issues but I haven't been able to find anything on it

Can some1 help me with the installation because if i follow the instructions, I can start the mod but ctd immediately.

I did like that


1. clean TA 3.2 Installation
1.1 Deactivate UAC
1.2 Run the Cleaner
2. Run PCP_Installer and install it in the mod folder
3. Run Third_Age_installer
4. Apply the Patches
5. Run 3rd Age bat
6. CTD

I changed up things according to different install guides but nothing really worked always ctd before the game really launches.

Great idea and good job. Especially the map is awesome. But bro please publish stand alone including third age 3.2. I know it will be like 16gb or something like that but im really get tired of facing with crash problems. Also, installing the mod again and again, copying files are not take short time. I spent all my weekend to make it playable but everytime i had issues. I have tried all patches but still the best one is demo. At least i didnt had any crash but AI is very weak.

Please publish one final exe and save us :)

I've tried installing this a couple times and have gotten no joy. The installer .exe's never ask me for a mod folder location like the instructions say they will. It doesn't even say 'install', just modify/repair/remove. I have no idea where files are really being installed, if they are at all, when I try the 'modify' option. When I try running the .bat files I copied in from the 'first age UI patch', like 1st_Age_Beleriand.bat, it just runs regular TATW. I don't know if there is some other way you're supposed to actually run this mod once it's supposedly installed. There are no instructions on how to do so, no icons created on the desktop, nothing. I get that this is an alpha, but.... the install is a bit rough even for an alpha. Would love to play it, but I've given up unless someone can shed some more light on how to get it working....

I've been trying to download this mod but unfortunately unable to do so. The game crashes a few seconds after it starts is their anyone who can help or guide me to a detailed video on how to install. Never played the mod before but i would definitely like to try it out. Always wanted to run a campaign in the first age which is my favorite age and any help would be highly appreciated!!
