DaggerXL is a Modern Daggerfall Engine Recreation for current Operating Systems and hardware – essentially it is a remake in the spirit of a port. It will ultimately fully emulate the game of Daggerfall and then optionally enhance it by refining existing features and adding new gameplay elements that were originally intended. The game will make use of hardware acceleration providing higher resolutions, color depth, greatly improved visibility, better texture filtering, enhanced performance and more. In addition DaggerXL will support full modability, similar to more modern Elder Scrolls games, using custom tools.

Unbelievable! I had no idea Daggerfall was this huge! Its amazing that a game released in 1996 had a completely open world! I wish I had known back then... man! Too busy playing Doom and Hexen.
I love the water movement.. pretty cool.
Thanks for this walk-through, I'm very impressed and can't wait for more updates.

The final bit where he went to the coast took place in 1 and a half pixel on Daggerfall's map. Daggerfall's map is 1000x500 or 500 000 pixels. The size of the game is just unreal.

Description

"This movie shows the software renderer in action as well as the refactored terrain and location support.

The movie starts by quickly running through a dungeon with monsters and HUD disabled. It shows the software renderer running in 320x200, 8 bit color. Then it shows running from the dungeon exit to the nearest town.

After that it switches to a higher resolution, though still running the software renderer in 8 bit. It shows walking to another town and then to the coast. Once at the coast it shows the new water animation.

Note that there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out before the release."
