The current release date is May 1, and I am able to finish the development till that. However the release will be Fileplanet exclusive, and that means, we had to consider the release date they suggest - so they could give the biggest possible exposure to the mod - which is great! Currently the expected release date is around May 18, and I soon change the date in the mod's profile also.

There are some comments, mentioning that the animations look funny/strange, well, that's true.
I was able to build all the things I planned for Curse, except animations.Mostly because custom animations didn't affect the gameplay directly,thus I marked it as a low priority task. Check this news post to see what was the plan.The animation features mentioned there, will be only available in the next episode.
Now here's the coolest part of the news post:
Curse is getting a full AAA audio treatment! The music is created by Rich Douglas - head over to his website for more music samples from Curse - and the sound effects will be created by Robin Arnott. 'drool emoticon here'
When the release date pushed back previously, I mentioned extra content. I won't tell you all the details what is the extra content, because it is a secret. And, awwww, I really hoped you'd make some mummie animations. At least, did you change the sounds? Also, with a little help you could've coded-in the TF2 axe animation for your mace. Would've fit perfectly.
Animations & sounds affect gameplay as much as the graphics do.
I thought the mace attacks were not based off of set animations and it was controlled purely with the mouse and the movements mimick the ones you make. Maybe not, either way this mod is going to rock :)

Fileplanet exclusive!?! You're kidding right? You could release this mod on all the websites you please day 1 and I GUARANTEE Fileplanet would have it on their front page too. Every mod I've talk to that has gone the Fileplanet exclusive route has regretted it. If you look at it from a pure numbers point of view, any exclusivity just limits launch success.
BTW, Fileplanet download numbers are cumulative - meaning they bundle all version downloads together in their count. Don't be fooled by the misleading counts.
I'd have to agree with stenchy here, you could get this mod on every download site you want too, why go for an exclusive on one if you could have way more coverage by going to many sites.

FilePlanet is opening to hear what you guys have to say. But I must say I'm bruised up from reading all the hate, lots of stones thrown.
Don't hate on the Curse moddev team. I approached them with this offer and they are looking out for their best interest and so is FilePlanet. I understand it is a mod and should be available to all gamers. I want to promote it across FilePlanet, to a wider audience on our network, and help some mod developers. The only way to justify it is a pre-premiere.
With that said, FilePlanet will talk to the Curse mod dev team to make some arrangements that benefits the Curse Dev, FilePlanet, and of the fans here on ModDB.

I use FilePlanet all the time, unlike others, I don't have much issues with it, it's good for Mod PR and even if they're slow downloads, they're reliable, that's for sure.
Though I'll agree 100% with everyone else here, FileFront is better, any site is really better, being Exclusive is NOT looking out for their best interest. It's looking out for FILEPLANETS BEST INTERESTS AND NOT THE MODS. Blatant lies you are telling, my friend. Exclusive on Fileplanet is only good for ONE party.(You)
Like the dev said, I hope he can reconsider. Decadence, aside from it's other faults, suffered from being exclusive to Fileplanet for like 2-3 days, which in all honesty, hurt what it could do.(Throw in it's other bugs, and you've got a plan for disaster)
Wider-audience? How the HELL is it a wider audience if it's Exclusive? Why not release it on Fileplanet AND other sites, then it'll reach a even WIDER audience and help the mod developer out MORE. IF you TRULY wanted to help them, you'd understand that.
In the past the term FilePlanet used was exclusive. I will not enforce or use that term. I won't spend time sending emails enforcing it either. FilePlanet is just an option and I do want people to come by.
This wasn't intended it to be an "exclusive". Just a launching premiere on FilePlanet to maximize publicity for the mod and have it on FilePlanet. I do want it to launch on FilePlanet and set time aside for that. Do you think FileFront or FileShack sets time aside to do that? They are busy posting other stuff. If it isn't posted on FilePlanet most of the other sites won't even notice this mod is released till a week or two later. If it's front center on FilePlanet they take notice. Cats out of the bag.

I actually have to agree with ricecrispi, just not with the exclusivity, however which he stated he has forgone. If FilePlanet brings attention to this, the other File- sites will take heed and possibly follow suit. Otherwise, it would just be the same publicity it would have gotten, had it been released on all sites rather than FilePlanet.
In other words, what I'm saying is that if FilePlanet DOES give attention to CURSE, FileShack and FileFront may do the same. But I'm NOT saying that it should be FilePlanet exclusive or be hosted exclusively on FilePlanet for any given amount of time.

Fileplanet is usually behind the times if I ever saw anything. They usually have files that have been on other sites for a week or more just show up.
Why isn't it satisfactory to just release it on all sites at the same time? It can be on Fileplanet and others, that's basically what I said, and I am asking, why do you want Fileplanet to have it before anyone else...so that you guys will receive more attention and people would be FORCED to use you.
I'm one of the people who actually DEFEND Fileplanet against my friends. "It's not as bad as you all say it is.", I've said that so many times. I use it all the time, but releasing it as an EXCLUSIVE to Fileplanet for ANY degree of time only benefits you alone.
Ricecrispi has basically been saying that releasing it on Fileplanet alone, albeit, not forever, but for a short amount of time will be good for it...I can't see how it benefits the maker of this mod. It limits the audience and possible viewers.
Just imagine, release day. It's on Fileplanet, FileFront, Fileshack, WHATEVER GOD DAMNED SITE YOU WANT. Just don't limit it to one site on launch. You'll regret it.

Does FilePlanet benefit from it being exclusive on our site even for a day or two? If I make it non-exclusive it might be up for one afternoon and might not gain the steam it needs with a beta event or big demo. FilePlanet is stuffed with beta events the next couple of weeks.
I am leaning to make it non exclusive this time.
