The Past Ain't What It Used To Be...
The first Command & Conquer received its last official update on the 21st of June, 1996. Since then, the game has been ported to Windows (as "Gold" version), and re-released in the big "The First Decade" and "The Ultimate Collection" collection packs, but has never received any more bug fixes.
The C&C Gold Patch 1.06 project aims to bring this classic into the new millennium, by fixing the old bugs, supporting higher resolutions, and adding new modding and mapping possibilities. It also contains an addon-based language system, allowing anyone to create translation packs for the game.

Apparently the version of CnCNet 5 included in the patch didn't work... so I fixed that.
Additionally, I've been informed various times that the game has a bug where the mouse freezes when you open the in-game menu. I knew that the fix to this was to enable Win95 compatibility mode, but unfortunately, the config tool removed compatibility if CnC-DDraw was enabled, because that's the way it worked best on WinXP (on which the patch was originally developed).
That has been fixed too now; the tool should now set the appropriate compatibility mode for every situation.
An Italian language pack was created, with the help of the wonderful people of the OldGamesItalia website :)

Video packs have been added to the downloads and addons sections, and the game / patch downloads themselves have gotten minor updates, too.
An error in the full installer made the CnCNet desktop icon run C&C95.exe instead of cncnet.exe

My game randomly crashes after some gameplay (20-30mins).
OS: Windows 8.1 64bit
Any suggestions to solve this issue?
What error message do you get?
Nevermind, completely disregard my other comment if you read it, I managed to get it working, sweet mod by the way :D
Hey Nyerguds, sorry if I sound like an idiot, but i have some installation questions. I have the ultimate collection on origin, does this mod work with that version of command and conquer, and two how would i go about installing it for the game since it defaults to the old westwood folder which doesn't exist on my computer?
First of all, the patch has an FAQ, which clearly states that it works on TFD and on the Ultimate Collection.
If the patch does not automatically find the folder, it means the game's registry entries are missing, which is rather strange, really. But, even if you installed through Origin, you should have some idea or some way to look up where on your disk the game is installed. Just manually select that folder when installing the patch. You can't really do anything wrong; it'll refuse to install to a folder which does not contain the C&C95; files.
Oh, and it's a patch, not really a mod ;)
This is a great patch. Now C&C1 is back and better than ever! Many thanks Nyerguds! Any chance you could do the same for RA1 one day? Pretty please?
Other people are already doing that. check out the cncnet project and the C&C Communications Center website; that's where all the exciting stuff is happening these days.
Thanks! I will do that. :)
Is there already a patch that supports more than 4 icons in the construction list?
Yeah, people have been working on it, but I haven't had time to integrate it in the patch.
