The Past Ain't What It Used To Be...
The first Command & Conquer received its last official update on the 21st of June, 1996. Since then, the game has been ported to Windows (as "Gold" version), and re-released in the big "The First Decade" and "The Ultimate Collection" collection packs, but has never received any more bug fixes.
The C&C Gold Patch 1.06 project aims to bring this classic into the new millennium, by fixing the old bugs, supporting higher resolutions, and adding new modding and mapping possibilities. It also contains an addon-based language system, allowing anyone to create translation packs for the game.

Apparently the version of CnCNet 5 included in the patch didn't work... so I fixed that.
Additionally, I've been informed various times that the game has a bug where the mouse freezes when you open the in-game menu. I knew that the fix to this was to enable Win95 compatibility mode, but unfortunately, the config tool removed compatibility if CnC-DDraw was enabled, because that's the way it worked best on WinXP (on which the patch was originally developed).
That has been fixed too now; the tool should now set the appropriate compatibility mode for every situation.

What exactly does the Tiberium On/Off option do in the MP menu? The manual didn't explain it and even when I turned it off I saw Tiberium on the MP maps.
Honestly, a very good question. I have no idea. It might cause the tiberium to not regrow, to play Dune II style with resources limited by the initial map state.
Seems rather dumb though, since Dune II's generated maps actually add more Spice to the map if more players are placed on it, and C&C obviously has no such system since its maps are completely predefined.
Halp. I'm having an issue! I can't play it. Mouse is totally broken. The only screen the mouse works on is when selecting GDI or Nod from Start New game. If I move my mouse around on the main menu or during an actual mission, the mouse flies to the corners of the screen. Scroll rate is set to lowest possible. I cannot place the mouse pointer on any menu option or over anything in game. I can click drag but it is slow. This is on the latest windows 10. I've run it on Windows 10 before with no issue, not sure what has changed!
It's caused by the compatibility mode not playing nice with the graphics system override. Apparently a lot can be solved by specifically disabling the Win95 compatibility mode on C&C95;.exe after using the config tool (which currently has the problem it always re-enables it when you use it).

Hi Nyerguds,
I recently bought CnC Ultimate collection, and have installed CNC original and RA1, and after alt tabbing I experience black screens and freezes. So after doing some surfing, I found that the patch you made is a fix towards this. However, when I downloded the latest patch (the first option, around 22ish mb), whenever I run CNC original the game just crashes at the opening cutscene. Am I supposed to download the full.exe with no cd to make it work?

There should be no difference between a patched Origin install and a full install from this site. What does the crash message say?
