The Past Ain't What It Used To Be... The first Command & Conquer received its last official update on the 21st of June, 1996. Since then, the game has been ported to Windows (as "Gold" version), and re-released in the big "The First Decade" collection pack, but has never received any more bug fixes. The C&C Gold Patch 1.06 project aims to bring this classic into the new millennium, by fixing the old bugs, supporting higher resolutions, and adding new modding and mapping possibilities. It also contains an addon-based language system, allowing anyone to create translation packs for the game.
This can be added to your game to give you the English videos. If you want to add additional videos for other languages, use the addon-packs. The other base-packs will overwrite these videos.

Wait.....what does this do ......add new movies ??
It just adds THE movies. The full game pack you can download from here doesn't contain the videos, and it'd be a real shame if people would have to play without them.
Obviously this pack isn't needed if you play the game on a 1.06c-patched First Decade install or something like that. (though for the German version I'd still advise it; their original videos configuration is a mess of loose files in the game folder)
I'm actually playing the Origin version, in which the game's thoroughly broken. Even if I end Explorer.exe, the FMV's get distorted colors about halfway through each time. Will this fix it? If not, will the 1.06c Revision work well enough to fix the issue on Windows 7?
Tried it, it worked, no purple Hitler, no purple Kane, 10/10 for you.
Honestly, for C&C1;, RA1 and TS I'd just find and install the freeware downloads of the games, and not bother with the Origin version at all. There's a reason I have a "full game install pack" in the downloads here ;)
Last I checked, though, Command and Conquer 1 never had any Hitler in it, purple or not...
Never knew CNC1 was free, I thought it was just RA1 and TS. Oh well.
Anyway, is there a way I can use this for RA1? That game's Origin edition is also a broken PoS on modern Windows platforms, and I was hoping to play that with proper colors and interlace removal as well.
You can find a RA1 patch/download all-in-one web installer at Funkyfr3sh.cncnet.org ;)
We got a TS install pack as well, hosted on Cnc-comm.com somewhere. There's a pack in the downloads, but I think a more updated pack (though some of the updates might be experimental) can be found if you look through the forum a bit. There's also a patch for TS here: Cnc-comm.com
ic...thanks man
Does this video pack include the the Covert Operation Videos? I've listed them below:
BANR_NOD.VQA
BLACKOUT.VQA
BODYBAGS.VQA
INFERNO.VQA
IONTEST.VQA
REFINERY.VQA
It most certainly does include the Covert Ops videos :)
(you don't mess around with a game for almost 20 years and forget details like that ;))
So what do I...do with this file? I've tried moving it to the C&C95; folder in my computer and it still isn't playing any of the movies. It doesn't look like it needs to be unpacked (not a .zip), but its file type is just listed as just file. I see its listed as a .exe file here, but it doesn't show up as one when downloaded and when clicked on it prompts for a program to open it with. Maybe just not compatible with OS? Windows 8.1 64-bit?
Uhh... it's an installer. An executable file. You kind of... run it?
If the file doesn't act as executable program it means the download somehow didn't give you a correct executable file name. To fix that, you should enable file extensions in Windows (google if you don't know how) and then rename the file to add that missing ".exe" behind it, so it will be seen as program as it should be. Then you just double-click it to run it, like any program.
I'm having an issue with this file. After double-clicking on it, I receive an error message saying the file is corrupt and I need a new copy. Is anyone else having this issue?
Then something probably went wrong with your download. Try redownloading it.
You rule for doing this <3 Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Something has gone wrong with this. Every time I try to install this, it says "ERROR: The game was not found in the selected directory. Please select the directory where Command & Conquer is installed." I have the right directory selected. How exactly should I fix this? Thanks!
The game checks some vital files in the game folder, like conquer.ini. If those don't exist, then the folder you selected is probably not the C&C95; install folder. Did you actually install the 1.06 patch first, though? This pack does require it.
Nyerguds, I just installed this English video pack, but the videos aren't showing up in the game at all. Anything I did wrong?
I don't have internet psychic powers that allow me to look at your PC, so, uh, I dunno? Maybe?
Check the configuration tool's "game options" tab, and make sure the game is set to NoCD mode, using the last option (subfolder of the game folder named like the language code). Then check if the "movies.mix" file is present in the game folder.
Witch files do I need? I have unofficial 1.06 patch so maybe I am missing some files. I do have conquer.ini though.
How do you install this? Can you and where do you put the movies into?
Just run the executable, it will do anything else
Nyerguds I am having issues downloading from Moddb it's way too slow like 50KB/s slow can I get a dropbox link?
EDIT:and now the second day in which I attempt to download the file it decides to fix itself
EDIT01:spoke too soon
