In the nineteenth century, an occultist named William Carter discovers gateways to other places in time and space. Reality starts collapsing around him, slowly melting into nameless cosmic horrors. As he tries to understand his visions and find a way to stop them, he will see that he is not the first to make that journey, and that those who came before him brought back to Earth demented things that would have been better left alone.
Definitely one of the better custom stories I've ever played for amnesia. It's remarkable how much this accomplishes without fully converting. It's level design is clearly had a lot of thought put into it and its very inventive. The story was also great and I loved the soundtrack. The reason this isn't getting 10/10 is because, although the story was great, it was kind of erratic. It felt a little jumpy like I didn't know what was going on. And while not knowing what is going on is a big part of what make Amnesia stories fun to delve into, this one felt just a little strange and under explained. Until I read the suicide note I thought I was character writing these notes. Otherwise though this is a great story and I would recommend it highly to anyone.
An exellent custom story.
Amazing visuals, exellent mapping. I love that you have to climb and find you way to reach places. The exploration part gave me the "Indiana Jones" chills. GREAT music too. Nice Lovecraftian story aswell. Simple yet efficient. Very oniric but not that scary I must say.
So yeah amazing job man, the only downer i could find would be the finale. Don't get me wrong I like the concept of this final "boss". However, Amnesia controls and overall gamplay makes it impossible to finish without dying several times and it kinda ****** me off since I like to be able to end Custom stories without dying. That felt impossible here. But it's no biggie!
I really liked your custom story you've put a lot of work in it and even if it didn't really scare me (well it did scare me once to be fair!) I was genuinely thrilled when playing this and I'm defentely looking forward to playing more custom stories from you Daortir.
And you, the player, if you are reading the review to make up your mind, just download the damn CS and play it its worth it. 9/10
Awesome story, amazingly detailed and unexpected environments, well paced and the atmosphere is intense when it needs to be. It's not the scariest story, but it's well worth your time. :D
Plus and minus:
+ Level Design
+ Story (Very unique and interesting)
+ Music (It was creepy and awesome)
+ Ending (An awesome custom story, which ended amazingly)
+ Scares (A bit of jumpscares but they made sense)
+ Atmosphere
- No custom monsters(I love custom monsters in custom stories, and was excited for them)
9/10 Amazing!
Ingenuity like I haven't seen in a while! Excellent work my man!
The music is really good, but I missed some voice acting, even though it would be all monologue.
And I'd LOVE to see a longer version, maybe a full conversion? So the story could be told in much more depth. I don't think everybody will catch on what they read in the game, but that's just me.
I wish only it was longer...
Loved it to death.
Was simply, Fan. Tastic.
Loved the mapping, The perfect use of monsters, And great lighting!
The story was amazing (Havent read any H.P. Lovecraft stuff YET <--) But I sure love this mod. It must be one of the best.
