While Cold Ice Remastered Beta 3 is available for download here, the team continues its work on the upcoming Beta 4 release. This month we are excited to showcase the portal gun and map work.
Cold Ice Remastered Beta 4 will include a liminal portal gun. Yes, you heard that right. In addition to the 45+ weapons we have in our mod, it will also include this teleportation device. Fire two portals and transport yourself where you need to go. We will also include an experimental mirror mode that will work on some gaming machines (thank you, Bacontsu!)
In addition to the portal gun, Beta 4 will include new maps. This month, we showcase two reskinned maps by our dedicated developer AudioCraZ (big thank you!). First, we selected "The Hill," a popular addon deathmatch map from then promoted by PC Gamer magazine in 1999. We call it the "The Chill," reskinned in all its wintry-styled glory.
Second, we are working on a reskin version of "Rust Mill," with its working title "Frost Mill." A well-cherished map from early 1999, we are proud of this one. With its inclusion in Beta 4, we get closer to our goal of reskinning all the original maps of HLDM. Datacore and rapidcore are all that remain.
