A few days ago the members of the Company of Heroes modding community - among many other people - were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Loran Korn, an extremely skilled, dedicated and respected modder.
While not knowing the details of his death, I know only that he knew of what was approaching (as did those close to him); and was fully prepared for what was to come, leaving nothing behind. He died with those he loved around him.
Loran was one of the very first people to mod Company of Heroes, and has recently once more flooded it with life, as he and others from the Normandy 44 team began an unimaginably fast paced production of many, many custom 3d models and animations - some of which will be seen in EF.
While not a full time member of EF, working mainly with/for N44, Loran breathed a great deal of life into EF creating the awesome array of weapon sounds the Soviets find themselves with today, without these they simply would not have the feel and level of professionalism they deserve. On top of this, I believe the 76mm Sherman used by the Soviets is a model created by Loran; as is the upcoming Jumbo Sherman (Reward Unit) for the Allies.
Loran's legacy will be continued by his amazing friends (completing his work), and here at EF through the use of his perfected sounds, and the inclusion of his wonderful Soviet models.
Rest in Peace Loran, you deserve it.
See you on the other side.
