Eastern Front is a free mod for Company of Heroes. Following the ethos of mimicking a Relic Entertainment expansion pack, Eastern Front has succeeded in adding two full new factions, the Soviet Red Army and the German Ostheer, packed with unique and exciting units to the existing armies - a feat never before achieved in the Company of Heroes world.

Cool! So the Opel Blitz will have some new upgrades?
@ubermensche
It would be easy to set the Opel Maultier as reward unit of the Opel Blitz or vice versa, it can be set up as an upgrade, but I'm not sure if that would be something that benefit the player so it should be invested.
I mean, the upgrade would give it only a better traverse speed due to the tracks but everything else would be the same.
Maybe allow the Opel Maultier be upgraded to a supply version. Cannot carry ANY troops, but can spawn some weapons (at a balanced cost).
Eg.
Mkb42 - 25 munitions
MG34 (light) - 75 munitions
etc.
Have the cost and production time similar to what it'd cost for an infantry squad to upgrade to it anyway, but it'd allow players to give these weapons to squads that don't normally have them.
Naa that reminds me of some other mod I once played, was it Back to Basics, or NHC, I don't recall exactly, but I've seen that.
Plus the Opel Blitz in the Ostheer is a sector lockdown unit if memory serves, thus the Maultier would, if anything would be a Modernization upgrade to make it more mobile and give it more capabilities. As such I would love to see it as a Modernization bonus, acquired when you get any one of the available modernization in any of the Ostheer's tiers (or perhaps to the Tier II or III Mod. for balance)
True, but in those mods you could buy Panzerschreks, and/or heavy weapons like HMGs and mortars, and usually either cheaper or quicker than what it would cost to buy otherwise. I was thinking more of lighter stuff, and with cost and time the same as what it'd cost as upgrades.
Or simply make available weapons that aren't available as individual upgrades. It'd be cool to be able to buy a single MP40, Mkb42(h)[as the sniper carries the Mkb42(w)?], or StG44, which you could use to equip infanrty squads with to slightly improve their firepower.
It could be balanced by having them use 1 pickup slot each in the squad (if the heavier stuff like the MG34 and RPzB43 use 2 slots each), that way, your squad could carry 2 automatics purchased from the Maultier, or a heavier weapon you'd upgrade them with.
If the Maultier requires "Phase 2" (well, Ostheer equivilent) to upgrade to produce said MP40, MkB42, and StG44, those guns could then be a bit better than the previous, and also go up in 5 munition prices and require successive research phases also.
ie.
MP40 - 15mu each, requires Phase II. Moderate accuracy, low damage, and low RoF.
MkB42 - 25mu each, requires Phase III. Moderate accuracy, good damage, and moderate RoF.
StG44 - 30mu each, requires Phase IV. Moderate accuracy, good damage, moderate RoF, longer bursts.
Or, that's an idea anyway, and the "phases" would naturally be the Ostheer equivilents.
Better perhaps update. Cool you come up with renewal of Flak, I liked.

was that even used that much.
Almost as many were used as the opel blitz after autumn 1943, as it didnt get bogged down in the winter mud as much.
Will Soviets get non-medical ZIS-5 trucks?
Unlikely.
Why not? They were widely used wherent they?
Doesnt matter if they were used that much. If its needed, it will be added. Just like the Kugelblitz, which was not so widely used :P
cheers
Just curious, is this the replacement of Sd.kfz251 halftrack (Ostheer not wehr) or Opel Blitz? Beside, is there any plan to give Soviets "Vanilla" ZIA-5 in your future campaigns? (in missions like protect the convoy to the Leningrad)
A good idea and a good job.
Why the front glass is broken?
Because the Essence Engine doesn't support grey alpha maps. Only full black = hidden or white = shown.
Just one thing (for the sake of visual reality), the 3,7cm gun on the third truck seems to be pointing its gun directly to the driver seat, you guys might want raise the gun up for a little bit so when it is firing at Ivans in the front it won't shoot through the poor driver.
It's CoH! Realism please step aside!
Now we can do drive bys for the Ostheer without getting a tank. This'll hurt those Soviet soldiers.
Soviet first favorite and very common weapon is the Molotov Cocktail from your humble conscripts, but wait, their second favorite is the Zis-2 57mm gun. I hate those two weapon, way too lethal!
Just a side note, we are currently re-working the Flak variant to have a similar cab to the Opel Blitz Flak truck but it's taken a little bit of time as me and DMz have not got the DataSrc files.
Were also looking into fixing a few Blitz bugs aswell.
Very nice to see some assets, but the treads need work - shouldnt they be based off the Sdkfz's tracks rather than the M3's?

They are correct.
