With combat data gathered and testimonies of crews on the ground, the light version of the crusader was considered a failure due to increasing anti-armour capabilities of the enemy and growing problems with the tank.
Due to teething problems of the light version, this forced the army to bring back the old reliable medium version out of the reserves and reinforce it further with better armor materials, more advanced protection and fire control systems.
As they say, don't fix what isn't broken.
TL;DR: The old crusader is back because i was bored. deal with it.

No replacing a classic, to be honest.
