I tried the download and it finished but when i start the game under the mod in steam it crashes and sends me back to steam.

What's your install directory?
Normally it should be:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod
Hey, just curious, what happened to all the other starting dates in the mod? The only one that's there is the starting date of Frodo finding the rings, when previously there were a few more.
You have to select the additional bookmarks in the installer.
