CHPower is a free modification for Battlefield 2 (aka BF2). The objective of this mod is to provide a semi-realistic battle between China, Japan, the United States and the Middle Eastern Coalition. Also we aim to offer a chance for BF2 players to use state-of-the-art Chinese firearms and vehicles. This mod includes various adjustment ranging from physics (ie. destroyable objects/environment, missile to missile interception etc), new Head-Up Display design to visual effects (ie explosion and missile trail etc).

We notice that some individuals, including the Battlefield Single Player Forum’s administrator, have suggested that we infringe other modification copyright ranged from the Japanese Battlefield2’s Modification Close Quarter Battle (CQB) to the WWII Battlefield2’s Modification Forgotten Hope 2 (FH2). We realize that it is necessary for us to rectify such kind of misconception.

1. JSDF Type96 WAPC
One of the Battlefield Single Player forum administrators, MasterChiefRulz (aka MCR), shows his/her concern about our Japanese Armor Personal Carrier. MCR suspects that we directly use CQB’s content without acknowledgement, stating that “the japan apc looks suspiciously like cqbs as well.”

However, this unfounded accusation shall be readily demised when compared our Type96 WAPC with the CQB’s model. The pictures below, captured from 3dsmax 11, illustrate our point both in concept and in detail.
Remarks: Left: CHPower 2011’s Type 96WAPC model
Right: Close Quarter Battle Modification’s Type 96WAPC model

We understand that the Battlefield Single Player forum administrator values copyright protection highly, which is laudable especially in such information-concentrated, free-flowing milieu as the internet. Nevertheless we are bounded to feel regret that some individuals, including the Battlefield Single Player forum administrator, show their superficial understanding of copyright by executing copyright-related policies in a literal, undigested fashion and marshalling little, if any, evidence of copyright infringement to convince the public.

2. Shader Effect
According to one of the moddb’s member Sgt. Dann, we are accused of using Forgotten Hope 2’s shader effect. Although an “argument” seems to be provided by our accuser, once again the accusation dissolves in face of its absence of any solid evidence and, hence, logic.

In 2009, [CHP-Dev]Dogox and Sonic_PowerZ2 from BF2MOD.CN created a completely new shader effect based on the original Battlefield2’s Shaders_Client. Although the basic mechanism of both the shader from CHPower and FH2 may be similar, there exist a major different – only the shader effect developed by us can be opened directly without any new executable files such as “FH2.exe” and “PR.exe”.

It is crystal clear that we have never used other modification’s content nor infringing any organization’s copyright. We retain the power to comment further on this and related issues.

Well that should settle those issues. Good idea to show that, but it is too bad that some people have to be accusatory with out any real proof. Please try to forgive them as we all do appreciate a good bf2 mod, and CHPower is looking really awesome. Please keep up the good work, and keep sharing with us at mod db.

I just want to say thanks for the quick and professional manner of which the CHpower team has addressed the issue and complaints of several different individuals concerning 'presumed' stolen content.

Please allow me state I am not the sole administrator of BFSP, I am just an assistant. I do not represent the sole judgment of the Battlefield Singleplayer website and it's affiliates.

My decisions and questions surrounding BFSP policy concerning stolen content is based on the community at large and it's voice. After several forum members both at BFSP and Moddb suggested stolen content, I took measures in defense of the protection of intellectual property (the content created by mods), as BFSP has had issues with that in the past.

I regret any unintended attack on the honorable CHpower's integrity as a modding group, as my intent was to protect mod teams and not to assault or insult those in question. Please accept this apology.

One thing is for sure the "PostProduction_nv3x.fx" file in CHPower is directly copied from FH2s shaders_client archive. Even the date modified is the same and the file size is exactly the same.
FH2s shaders need the FH2.exe because they have modified some of the RaShaders, which are compiled into the shader cache. The exe is used to swap the cache to avoid problems when playing vBF2 again. The exe is not needed for the post production shader.
