Hi everyone!

Haven't been a while online here, got a longer break as expected from modding TS. I'd like to say a few things.

First one is about the update I promised many of you. Unfortunately that version won't make it public, it was quite a mess - and I don't want to release a buggy version anymore - I got quite a lot of problems with the messed up radar colors etc. So I had to revert back, but then I updated my computer and things slowed down again. So that we are now here at this point.

I'd like to finish this mod finally, but I won't let it die so easy (not after so much work and effort I put into this project) that's for sure! Now what does this mean? I am falling out of the ground and don't exactly know on what exactly I should work on. Many of you played the mod and can provide me valueable feedback and reports.

Now what exactly do you think I should focus? Should it be balancing only, bugfixes, working on graphics, reworking AI, new content or have you got any other ideas?

My personal idea would be to make a balance/bugfix update with the first part of the optimized file structure I mentioned earlier a few weeks. That would be the fastest update I could offer, which I think would make more sense than adding new stuff or working on graphics. Because I already managed to get this mod very stable in comparison to older versions (people who played version 1.4 till 1.8 will know about what I am talking about :P ) but I have still room for improvments in stability.

Short answer is, new content can also include new bugs and crashes - I would think it's better to take the save way.

Please feel free to tell me your opinion!

Thanks!
Astor

Maybe you could go in this order?

Balance > Bug Fixes > Graphics > AI > New Content

What this game needs the most is visual statistics when you highlight units in the build panel. I was told before that it couldn't be done, but maybe it could be done when you highlight them in-game while they are on the field? I remember some C&C Generals MODs that did that with the capturable tech structures. Sure it may look messy when you do that, but something is better than nothing IMHO.

Hmm I don't know, it can't be really done in this game. The engine isn't really suitable to add new features. My mod is already flooded with hacks/tricks to get some things to work, the consequences are that we need to sacrifice things like starting units, a cut down version of the RMG and so on.

About the rest, I see balance and bugfixes a higher priority than new content too.

The way I remember it being done for statistic stuff, was extending the name label farther (as done in Generals). So when you hover your mouse over the unit, instead of it just saying say Disc Thrower, it will say Disc Thrower - Infantry - No Armor - Ranged - Slow Movement. It will look a bit messy, but something is better than nothing. If it still can't be done, then oh well, Balance and Bug Fixes it is. :-P

That thing can be done, BUT it will change the unit names.

So for example I would change "Disc Thrower" to "Disc Thrower - Infantry - No Armor - Ranged - Slow Movement" or some kind like that. Indeed it would look messy on the sidebar, but you could still disable sidebar texts.

Hmm I look after it.
