You know i don't know why people are bagging on the crawler system. It is in my opinion the singe most revolutionizing thing in the RTS genre since the RTS genre its self, It allows for more team-work it allows you to get strait to the action, and it would be one of the best ways to make a MMORTS. The crawler system is perfect for an online RTS, the biggest problem with it is that it has the name Command and Conquer on it, EA made too many changes to the game we all know and love, and in the end C&C 4 was not a Command and Conquer game because of it, now we are going to lose the number one best thing that has happened to the RTS genre because of EA's stupid decision to slap on Command and Conquer to C&C 4, wouldn't we all like to see some more MMORTS' games that are good i cant wait for rise of Nations, but the Crawler system could create another way to make a MMORTS because all of the Elements for a MMORTS is in C&C 4, it just isn't a MMO. The crawler system was horrendous. Every game became a pure battle of attrition. There was no real tactical choice in terms of base building or even really unit selection: just pick the units strong against the enemy units (or more likely, the most OP unit you have available) and hit the spam button. Seriously, if you want a game in which only micro makes any difference at all and even that is not huge, go play a bad FPS.

Dude, let me explain this to you. This genre is called REAL TIME STRATEGY, not real time tactics. That would be another genre. Now that strategy comes from multiple stuffs to do, not just spamming tanks. That is not strategy - that is CoD MW with tanks. And it is a reason why some genres have a good online play and why some other genres simply weren'made for online play unless you dumb them down to almost retarded levels and strip them away from just about every aspect that puts them into that genre. RTS is just one of those genres - make it online and you take away AT LEAST HALF the stuff it makes it good.
Now for EA's crawler system - this would've been interesting if the crawler macro and micro was more than just upgrading it to tier 2 and 3. You know ... truly make it like a mobile base, not a bigger tank that ***** smaller tanks.
well we didn't want people to be always online and it turned it into an non rts turned it in to An Tactits and death to all units
Even if I don't have C&C 4 and I honestly am not going to buy it anyway, I will seriously consider to try out this mod once it's finished.
No matter how crappy C&C 4 was, if a few modders are able to redo it for Zero Hour, I will definitely give it a try!
