C&C: ShockWave is an enhancement mod for C&C Generals: Zero Hour. The main goal of this mod is to make Zero Hour a more interesting game with more diversity between the generals, making you think twice before you select a certain general, and overall provide more choices, diversity, and strategic freedom than in Zero Hour - while keeping the spirit and design direction of the original Generals game and storyline.
General Kwai has reviewed his tactics recently. After days of exercises, he came up with a new design to replace the standard Chinese Troop Crawler. These new transports proved to have a speed advantage over the old ones. With the removal of non important parts, this Crawler also became much cheaper to produce but also lost some durability. With efforts to reduce weight, transportation has been reduced to six troops. Speedy and efficient, these transports can quickly support Kwai's tank columns.
Wow, and i thought Kwai was just an expressions, he really must have the impatience to make a less effective but fast moving Crawler work with his tanks!
I'm not quite sure that this fits Kwai. The tank gen is all about firepower, durability and facing the enemy head on with state of the art vehicles. On the contrary, his troop crawler should be slower but heavily armored and have treads instead of wheels. One general that need this faster version: Fai. Why? Because Fai's army is flexible and fast, especially that it relies on infantry.
The team didn't want to give Kwai any advantage in anything that related to infantry compared to other Chinese factions, so he got the cheap Light TC, instead of an armored tank TC.
Fai's not getting it cause half his stuff can transport and he doesn't need more. (Plus I beleive his commandset is full). Also, like all other factions, he's getting the bullfrog, which is way more deadier for Fai. (also because troops will emerge out of that thing unharmed when destroyed).
Kwai = Firepower and armor but his disadvantage is that its army is exposed and lacks of speed. For me, all his vehicles should be more armored.
Fai = Mobility and speed but his disadvantage is sometimes lack of firepower which means a less durable army. All of his vehicles should be wheeled which gives him transport advantage.
And that should be obvious because its tank vs infantry. Besides, he will not get the advantage that he wants because more armor = more wheight = less speed = less place for infantry and don't forget that more armor means more money.
This works for Kwai much more than Fai. If you think about it the TC is not a direct combat vehicle, it's a support/transport unit. Kwai has the tactic of using vast tank rushes but the main problem to this is anti tank infantry units. Using the new TC, Kwai's troops can get to the enemy positions and take these AT units out before they can decimate any of the tanks following.
The TC can also be used to capture the tech units around the area earlier on, something that I find is hard to do if your using Kwai.
Fai is too powerful in the transport department. This I personally believe would make a great edition to the vast tank rushes, espescially for removing the AT units of FAI early on OR delivering cannon fodder to the frontlines.
Kwai should not get a fast transport because he's not about speed. I certainly prefer a faster TC rather than an armored one because it is more effective, something which is not meant for Kwai, since infantry transport is secondary. If his TC was more armored, it will be slower, have less spot for infantry but more resistant to damage since he's also about durability.
Honestly, I agree with darkflame8, this definitely fits Kwai. Just because Fai is all about armored tanks doesen't mean taht the TCs are uber-armored. Direct combat vehicles are the ones he'd slap the armor on.
I have a suggestion. Maybe General Kwai's Troop Crawlers should have a few upgraded like the Overlord but different. Like an anti-tank cannon, a mine sweeper and a speaker tower possibly. What do you think.
No, Kwai's TC should be crap. Kwai's old TC's price was the only reason the LTC was added to replace the old LC.
I agree with king_ghidorah for this one, even though his comment is away from the tracks. I guess we al here have heard of the American Stryker Muti-role vehicle? I can see the Chinese troop crawler turning into that. For example, an Anti-Tank cannon, An improoved propaganda tower, advanced sensors, Extra armour reinforcement . . .
There isn't any more room for upgrades; SW has already filled all 128 upgrade slots. Thus making it a muti-role vehicle is semi-impossible. It's also definately not getting an AT gun, that would be fairly redundant. Better Prop doesn't fit the tank gen. Improved sensors are what the attack outposts are for. Extra armor would only make the TC 's price higher.
How bout you make one thats slow with treads, only carrys 4, but has a light tank gun and heavy armor? (and comes with rocket troops)
How can you think that a light troop crawler is a cannon fodder? A light(=fast) troop crawler is much more effective than an armored one and plus, Kwai gets it cheap. IMO, you increased his transport advantage by 100%!
I agree with WorldOfHurt. Give Kwai a small, slow and armored TC with 4 spots for infantry and treads. I'm sure it will cost less than 2100 (the price of the Kwai's current TC).
no, its like this.
kwai should have a crap apc due to his preference for heavier, tracked vehicles. fai should have a more advanced and stronger apc due to his preference for swarms of infantry. any complaints to this and i shoot you in the balls with a tank... repeatedly.
well
i think is usefull
since kwai has not artillery units, this transport can quickly get close to enemys artillery to decimate it before they can destroy any tank...they are really well armored...but think in some artillery units taking out your anti air units and some planes and/or choppers destroying your tanks...
wasted money.
i think we will all agree on this, we all love troop crawlers.. lol
BTR-60?
when is this coming out?
when it's done.
not for a while. the modders said that they'd be working on ROTR.
Not completely, Work on SW has simply slowed down quite a bit. (Though there has been something quite big that just happened in our workshop, sadly I'm not at liberty to tell. :P)
Does it have fire-ports?
(I guess not)
Nope, it's just a cheaper and smaller TC. Nothing remotely special about it.
So....that means no upgrades for it?
I think it's a good addition for Kwai. You finally have something to deal with the Chameleons, Basilisks, and Tank Destroyers which would seem to be a problem for Kwai. You know, the whole splash damage deal, and the fact that those kill just about any armored unit in one shot. I regret saying this since my favorite is Ironside, finally got the Howitzers to demolish moving targets.
Whoa, that's really... kwaai... ^^
Good one, this really suits his tactics better IMO
I like it personally.
Why is there so much controversy over a damn troop crawler seriously?
