This mod is for all the players frustrated with the cartoony nature of Zero Hour units and buildings. We intend to replace every fanciful unit in Zero Hour with its closest possible real world equivalent, without changing the unit's capabilities.
Next to the F-22 in the airfield.
awesome textures ;)
really good, extremely realistic.
Great Looks. Looking forward to this mod.
true, But the F-35 will never be a good CAS candidate. I'm sorry, but it's too flimsy for the job, 1 engine, thin armor and poor slow speed handling will cripple it! They need to make a new successor to the A-10....
(RL counterpart discussion)
If we see a new american CAS in our time, I would expect it to be a UAV, SEAD missions and so are becoming way too risky to use humans for, from a PR standpoint.
Umm, as far as I can recall only a couple of the A-10s pilots have been killed, and with only 6 aircraft lost! I mean the cockpit tub is made out of titanium alloy, the toughest metal used in military aircraft, also it has very thick armor and can fly FULLY LOADED on ONE of it's 2 engines!
They really over engineered those beasts, one pilot in the 2003 iraqui war had his plane shot to pieces, had a engine destroyed and the hydraulics destroyed and had to fly it mechanically AND still mad it back to base with no injuries.....
The A-10 has been up against only Serbia/Iraq/afganistan/Libya. If they were to go up against any nation with a slightly more serious army, iran/north korea/china etc, they would quickly disappear from the sky. They still really are kick *** though.
Oh?? The entire fleet of A-10s just had a major overhaul a few years ago to bring them up to spec, Th A-10C has all the modern equipment that the rest of our aircraft enjoy, including a ton of new smart munitions!! the A-10C is expected to continue flying until 2028, so I think against modern militaries that it has equal chance of surviving as any modern aircraft!! Also keep in mind that the A-10s only purpose is Close Air Support, meaning they fly low, slow and blast armored vehicles, tanks, and infantry to pieces and still come out flying for more. The F-35 JSF doesn't stand a chance in the conditions that the A-10 flies.....
That GAU-8/A rotary cannon isn't just for show, it spit depleted uranium sabot rounds out at 3900 rounds per minute....
pal if u knew anything about those countries u just mentioned...well they use russian equipment(renamded and a few things added)...those middle eastern countries also use russian equipment...the only thing that North Korea or China have ever made for them selves are aircraft...even the Chinese Type 99 was based offf russian designs for a heavy tank to match our M1A2...and the A-10 was designed to destroy armored vehicles....the only threat it faces is Other aircraft...well major threat anyway....
Actually, I do know a thing or two about these countries I just mentioned. As the egyptians showed us in the Yom Kippur war, a dense and modern AA/SAM system can easily thwart any sort of offensive operations from an enemy air force. None of the countries like Libya and Afghanistan had anything approaching a modern SAM that could hope to shoot down US planes. A dense screen of MANPADS could easily down an A-10, a Tunguska or Shilka battery could chew one up real bad if not totally destroy it. The concept of CAS may actually die out entirely and be replaced by high flying precision strikes if symmetrical warfare begins again any time soon. Already this is being done, with the F-35 being the primary contender to replace the A-10 when it retires. Why? It is really, really easy to die if you fly right above the enemy's heads. Check out the statistics for helicopter losses in Iraq, its insanely high. Yes, helicopters aren't as armored as fast as an A-10, but they fly at comparable altitudes. The US military has this aura of awesomeness that it wouldn't dare lose by fighting against an army with 3rd gen MBTs, 4/5th gen fighters, or any type of modern SAM or MANPAD. The US will never go to war with against a state that could actually harm its military in some sort of effective way.
should learn something...it doesnt matter how good the equipment..and dont think it does...it is all about experience....and our airforce has more experience than just evry other airforce in the world...if u knew history the only other country that has more experience is britain
A Tunguska would swat A-10s out of the sky like flies.
А-10 It is an old, clumsy attack plane-invalid. Buy for army of the USA... SU-25/39... A good choice, or new SU-34
А-10 это старый , неуклюжий штурмовик-инвалид . Купите для армии США ... СУ-25/39 ... хороший выбор , или новый СУ-34
:)))
I agree, I may be US, but the SU-25T is a brilliant piece of Russian aircraft and far superior to the A-10 with all of the modernization of its sensor suites and other avionics. Don't get me wrong I love the A-10, but it is a little outdated, but still very effective, I mean this for the future only. For added reasons it is the last of all US planes which does not have swept wings which I think would be a good improvement even if it is moving slow for CAS support.
Yes we send our A10s in alone most of the time...
There are more factors to consider when judging military equipment than just the single piece being considered at the moment.
F-35 isnt paint black.
Media.defenseindustrydaily.com It does get very dark, but this is primarily to make the two US 5th gen jets visually distinct within the game, sort of how dark the B-1 is here as well.
heeey let me texture it D:
Hahaha you said you didn't want to :P
if the model is new then I will do it ;P
Too late! Although if you want I can give you the skin (it isnt in PSD), and you can still add any details you feel like? (since it isn't 100% perfect).
wow cool can't wait for the next release
A-10 once destroyed a british APC during gulf war 2
but still f22 rocks and f35 is also good plane
(I got A-10 and F22 as models :P and harier (and some other) but those are my favs)
Can you add wheels to the planes when they are on the airfield?
Lol... Same quesion here like in the AA Discussion xDD
Not sure how this would be done.
it is possible - look at CWC
Let me rephrase that, "not sure how I could do this" ;). Hey Keksz check your mail! :)
No, they do not need to find a replacement for the A-10, the USAF has upgraded A-10A's to A-10C's, the A-10 is doing just fine, its rugged, tough, good armor and firepower. we have not only lost 6 aircraft since it was put into service. If anybody has questions for me, Post Them. Thank You!
