This mod is for all the players frustrated with the cartoony nature of Zero Hour units and buildings. We intend to replace every fanciful unit in Zero Hour with its closest possible real world equivalent, without changing the unit's capabilities.

Am I the only one who thinks realism is boring and that it signifies that mod creators have no creativity? Yeah well nice model anyhow, really like it!

True to some degree. But it is all about execution. BF3 is realistic too in looks right? But still it managed to create creative visual effects and in the way it represents itself (orange light glow, dirty lens focus points light streaks, the sound design etc) is also creative.

And texturing is actually not a 1:1 copying work. You need a understanding for colors and shadows which require a certain amount of creativity and abstraction. Although I agree you could also come up with your own design which shows more creativity but if you like this then this is definatly the wrong place for you :P
Thanks anyways

He obviously thought that texturing a model is equivalent of clinking a single button and let the computer do it for you, sad to see others don't appreciated real good work there........ :(

I don't believe realism is boring in any way shape or form. It is actually quite harder to achieve realism and in this case texture something realistically or accurately than it is to skip realism and focus on fictional creations.

It's called taste. Some people like fictional stuff, other people like realistic stuff. It's not even close to the idea of having or not having creativity.

They could add more units that doesent change gameplay. like f16 you can build in airfield but it has asme stats as f15 no game change just looks and bigger veriaty.

I think thats a good idea. Not a new idea because I and others already added this kind of style (other model same stats) in some of the other mods I am working on but still I guess that could add to the variety.

Keksz that's a beautiful texture. I see you went with the 58 FS instead of the 33 FW on the Tail however. Is there any reason why you chose one over the over ?

Btw here is a good image of both of them in flight:

Thank you :)

I don't think there is a diffrence between both since the 58 FS is under command of the 33 FW. Actually they are both the same or I am mistaking something.

Reply Good karma+5 votes

BossGeneral - - 440 comments

They appear to be both the same as well. However I am not exactly sure in this case why they don't just use the 33 FW designation on the tail or simply the 58 FS. Perhaps it can be explained by the fact that these are the first F-35A Operational Evaluation and production units delivered to the USAF.

You are also correct. The 58th Fighter Squadron is under the 33rd Fighter Wing but typical USAF practice for designations and markings would show either the Squadron or Wing Markings in addition to the other markings.

The F-117 Nighthawk is retired and not in use anymore since I think 2006.
It is too slow and the maintenace cost were too high. It just wasn't efficent enough anymore so the F-35 is there to close the missing gap now. Multirole but still the same capability as the F-117 and of course even better.

The F-117 was retired from March/April 2008. It was last seen with the American Flag flyaway pattern in a farewell ceremony on the bottom of the F-117A.

Example of this flyaway pattern:

Upload.wikimedia.org

Your correct about the maintenance cost and the slow speed. It was also becoming obsolete and the only advantage it held was the 'stealth' technology but since 1999 many operators have learned how to counter it's low radar signature. The F-35 is intended as a multi-role aircraft and one of it's intended roles is to replace the F-117A Nighthawk.

the f35 is training aircraft only it never made it to combat status so its unrealistic as a replacement for the f117 and there is no current stealth fighter on combat status aside from the f 22 raptor so the only choice i can see is to make the euro fighter the stealth fighter if you want to go with the NATO idea but other than that there is no alt for f117

IKR. I think they shouldn't change the aircraft. They DID say that they won't change "anything" in the game and would change the models into it's closest real world counterpart, so why change it?

I mean, it will get stolen eventually. I know, doomsday thinker blah blah, but prove me wrong :\ I'd rather see these in a full sized game!

But still... awesome!

Nice model indeed, but its paint job somewhat reminds me of its Chinese equivalent, the "Sino-JSF" J-31, which also bear the black skin.
I means NO criticism, the skin is well suited for "Stealth" operation aircraft and its badass for sure.

Yeah I know what you mean but the black color ain't so black actually. It's a special kind of metallic paint which reflects radar signals. In light it looks silverish and in the dark a bit blue/grey and in neutral light mostly a anthrazit color. I wen't with a neutral look since ZH doesnt support specular maps which react on light. I don't really think that the F-35 will see some sweet camo paintjob in real...thats sad actually because I would love to see some navy F-35C in colors like they did it on the Tomcats.

If it is true, why don't you guys give it silverish/grey colour? Most of the gameplay are focused in day time, and in people's mind, the greyish camo is more associated with US Air Force fighter fleet while black color are usually associated with the dedicated stealth fleet (F-117/B-2).

just a suggestion: you guy may need some konwledge of light effect use to make better and smooth looks. also, in my opinion fewer decorative pattern may make the model looks better. to be honest but i have to say that this model looks more like a wooden toy not a steel weapon. again the color of the whole plane especially the cockpit window may still need more consideration( maybe no "grey" or "black grey"is better?)

will you add j-20 or even j-31? that will really be a pleasant surprise!!supersonic speed(also a special effect of sonic boom i see in another excellent mod),stealth and high turn speed(allow the jet to reverse to catch its target again to shoot after passing by with the first shoot) should be the differences between usual jets.

Oh god recreating that stealth pattern was so fucking exhausting and difficult...but I guess it was worth it. Time to sit back and relax and wait how long it will take until another mod tries to recreate a realistic F-35A :P

Me and dhd just polished the model. The role as F-117 replacement is still the same.
