Beginning of The End Times 1.5+ Discord release from Summer 2018
With the team working away at the next full release again, plus the Alt Cut, and with renewed interest in the mod, we're hosting the 1.5+ Discord version of BOTET here on Moddb. As the name implies, this is the same version that has been available on the mod related discord servers, but released here so people can try it out without needing to go on discord for the link.
This is a full install, not a patch, so if you have the previous version of BOTET, you should delete that BOTET folder before installing this one. Other than that, the instructions are the same as already posted.
There is no changelog, but there's quite a few changes to both battles and the campaign to be found if you try it out. Stability is improved, some factions have had significant changes, and the mod is overall a little more polished here.
If you have a campaign in progress, or want to keep the old version while trying out this one, simply rename the old BOTET folder to something like BOTETold, then install the new one with the folder named BOTET. If you want to play the older version, rename the newer version something like BOTETnew and change the older version from BOTETold back to BOTET. Whichever folder is named BOTET is the one that will launch.

Yes, that's just the Steam version's new name.
CAN YOU PLAY AS THE minor factions in the game ?
technically yes, but you will run into many crashes and the game is not meant to be played as the minor factions at all.

is there a way to play this on Mac? btw do I still need the 4Gb patch?
TBH I am not sure if it will work on mac as we have never tried. If you are playing on mac you don't need the 4gb or large address aware IIRC thats already built in the mac version. Next release I want to look into the steps required to get it running right on both mac and linux.
If you need anyone to test any possible mac version, I'd be willing to help.

It works on Mac, I played it on my MacBook Air. But beware sieges with custom settlements do crash (like any other mod on Mac unfortunately)
Also I noticed several graphical glitches (mainly dark lines in the sky) on most mods since they updated Med 2 Mac version to 64 bit. I didn't try BOTET since though so I can't tell you if it's the case here precisely
Then the easy solution is to just delete the folders inside of BOTET/data/settlements.
- It will make all the sieges vanilla.

Well yes you can technically BUT you will run into issues with traits and ancs also character names causing late game corruption. I don't think the "slave" faction was ever ment to be played by the player.

Yeah same procedure just rename or delete the old version before installing, don't overwrite the old version.
I can't run the mod since I installed DAC v3 (which requires Large Adress Aware, I think it overwrote the 4GB patch settings). Is it a known issue ? Can't we play the 2 best mods together ?
Edit : I tried running again the 4GB patch, didn't work ;( After 3 years of success, I can't prevent the End times anymore
That's weird, cause i'm playing both & i didn't find any issue. I did an installation from zero, works perfect, even for my PC, which is a potato with windows XP xD.
4GB patch and Large Address Aware do the same thing, both mods need it for the same reason, so it's possible you damaged your exe by running both on it, but I don't figure it would. Are you sure your installation is otherwise the same?
I can still run Medieval 2, DaC, EBII and a ton of mods
The only one crashing on startup is BOTET. I don't understand, both 1.5 and 1.5+ crash, even though I've played the 1.5 for 3 years with the same install with no issues...
I'm sure I didn't mess up the 2 folders since I renamed the 1.5 "BOTET_old"
Are you trying to launch it with the folder name as "BOTET_old" and not "BOTET"? If the folder isn't named BOTET, it'll definitely crash.

Technically They are but they not. LAA can 4 GB batch files all at once and you can reserve it.
Uuuh, i saw the Hydras & Scorpions in this patch. Although i'm gonna miss the grey seers for the skavens. But i love how it's now the mod anyways, so badass.
Btw, could you say someone what is the rute for Knights of Inner Circle for Mercenaries? Cause the portrait is missing, appears the portrait by deffect, i assume, the green soldier with a knife & i would love to add one or download, if it's already made in some place.

Delete the old folder, put the new folder where the old one was.
Outstanding mod! You should've been on the Warhammer 1 and 2 team. The birthplace of warhammer in total war! Are you planning to incorporate new units? I know Medieval 2 has a unit limit cap, but I'm not sure how much the cap is. Overall, always looking forward to new updates and patches for this mod. Keep up the Good Work!
Twcenter.net Yes we have a unit/mount cap thats been hit a few times but we make due. Check out this for some new/reworked unit previews
Please help, I've followed all the instructions properly but when double clicking the warhammer.bat, it just shows a bat file and disappears instantaneously.
The normal game works just as intended and no crashes or whatsoever, it's just the mod itself.
I am using the steam definitive medieval II version x(
It dosent work for me i click it the start screen appears then it turns black crashes and there stands: "Chaos has doomed the world!!"
Something went wrong with your installation, make sure to follow the instructions exactly.

i have started a new wissenland campaign, do you know if the countess of nuln appears from an event at some point, i took all of wissenland if that is a requirement.
i remember there was some talk about having the heroes and lords in and i saw that the alt cut did add them at one point just without factions being able to recruit.

Hi guys. I have some tips I'd like you to share with me in this version, because I think I could do better, on this subject:
How on earth do I make money in this mod?
Namely as any Chaos God. I am playing as Nurgle now for example and I'm struggling. I mean, I have eliminated Tzeentch but I am now at war with Khorne. And not a single Invasion has been called yet. Chaos Warriors upkeeps and costs are very high as well as their building costs. I can only build mines in Tzeentch's former citadel but they offer a measly +140. What generates money in this game and can I do it as a Chaos God.
Lastly, both Slaanesh and Khorne have Daemon Lords already spawned at them and I have none. What triggers it?

Hello, how the Dark elves are suppose to recruit hydras/dragons? Because they need large cities but we can't upgrade naggarond and other dark elves cities... :/
Yeah same problem. In description it says that you need a bestiary to get hydras, but it's only in naggarond city and you need a large city... the problem is that the game don't allow to get to the rank of large city for naggarond, maybe the modders need to get naggarond upgraded to large??
