1.3 PATCH REQUIRED!
(It should be noted that I pulled the "1st level" as I thought it was a bit embarrassingly bad. feel free to see the video on my youtube channel! lol)
This is my attempt at creating a massive WW1 overhaul/total conversion mod for Call Of Duty 2. This is a big task for one guy so any help would be appreciated. I aim to have a unique approach to mission design leaning towards realism as opposed to how many you kill. Although the demo is quite like that. the full version won't be.
Notable people I would like to thank so far:
My supporters of the mod
Marc Chait for providing me with music to include
Antonio Horvatovic for helping me with the mission coding (gsc files and such)
And Vassili Tzaisev for his extremely helpful advice!
If you wish to help with voice acting, coding or mapping or all of the above, email me @ joc69uk@hotmail.co.uk and i should get back to you within the week.
The "Ypres map", which takes place in the First Battle Of Langemark, is 70% of the way there. This means that when I'm finished I can work on coding missions and getting voice actors ready (If you want to help with that or the missions, let me know). I have added the Village of Langemarck in the distance in the map as you can see in the images section of this mod.
To quote Wikipedia:
"The Battle of Langemarck took place from 21–24 October, after an advance by the German 4th and 6th armies which began on 19 October, as the left flank of the BEF began advancing towards Menin and Roulers. On 20 October, Langemarck, north-east of Ypres, was held by a French territorial unit and the British IV corps to the south. I Corps (Lieutenant-General Douglas Haig) was due to arrive with orders to attack on 21 October. On 21 October, it had been cloudy and attempts to reconnoitre the German positions during the afternoon had not observed any German troops movements; the arrival of four new German reserve corps was discovered by prisoner statements, wireless interception and the increasing power of German attacks; 5 1⁄2 infantry corps were now known to be north of the Lys, along with the four cavalry corps, against 7 1⁄3 British divisions and five allied cavalry divisions. The British attack made early progress but the 4th army began a series of attacks, albeit badly organised and poorly supported. The German 6th and 4th armies attacked from Armentières to Messines and Langemarck. The British IV Corps was attacked around Langemarck, where the 7th Division was able to repulse German attacks and I Corps was able to make a short advance."
I have made it somewhat historically accurate in the map but it is difficult as there are few pictures of the battle. But what pictures there are have been a big help. The trenches were right by the village, so that is accurate as well as the muddy terrain. You can view the pictures here (they are the third and fourth pictures)
I released that damn demo map finally! Now I can work on the full version more!
I am developing the Ypres map (this is from the first battle of Ypres, and will be included in the British and French campaign, but there will be a separate...
My exams are finally finished. This is where the hard work begins. I'M ALSO STILL RECRUITING
A 2 part map demo that features a search and rescue style feel. No real story, but it does demonstrate what the mod will be like. Trenches are a tad big...
Hi! First of all, your mod looks very good so far. There aren´t many WWI games out there, so good luck with it! :-)
In order to make your hard job a bit easier, why don't you contact other mothers? There's a lot of stuff which has been created for CoD 2, which would be very useful for a WWI mod.
In first place, there's the excellent Spanish Civil War mod. In there you will see several Mauser rifles with straight bolt handle, which could be used as a base for the German G98. The even come with bayonets!
Also, that mod has a model of the Adrian helmet (used by the International Brigades), and a stationary Hotchkiss M1914 machinegun, which you will need if you plan to add the French army, and the MP18 submachinegun, for the Germans in late war maps.
Also, tehre's the great Back to Fronts mod, made by MCh2207cz. That mod has lots of great weapons, all of them fully animated. For example, it features a stationary Maxim M1910 machinegun (whch you could modify into a German Maxim MG08) and a Lewis machinegun for the British, whcich comes with animations so the AI can deploy it (like the MG42). MCh2207cz also had a model of the artillery Luger pistol (with long barrel and drum magazine) and the Mauser C96 pistol. They have been cancelled from the mod but perhaps he still has the models. Also, the Lee-Enfield has a more realistic darker skin 8although it's still the Nº4 version; you will need to modify it into the Nº1 version, used in WWI). There are also plenty of WWI American weapons, like the unescoped Springfield M1903 rifle, the Smith and Weason M1917 revolver, the Shotgun (now useable in SP) and the early BAR M1918. That in case you wish to add the Americans some day. Also, the mod has fully animated bayonets for all rifles, which you can attach and remove.
As for the uniforms, that would imply harder work. There's an Axis mod in ModDB which has a very nice cap for the British soldiers (like the one they used in 1914-1915) and some uniforms which could be used for British and American soldiers. You should modify, for example, the boots/shoes.
The German skins could be more difficult to make if you want to add the Pickelhaube helmet (used in 1914), but for the moment you could just keep the Stahlhelm (even if it's not exactly the same model) and reskin the uniforms.
I hope it helps! And again, I wish you the best luck with your mod!
I'm a mother, I could be of use.
PM or email me
Thanks for the tips! really helpful! I have the G98 model raring to go, just need to try and convert the .obj into xmodel somehow. And as for bayonets, I saw a bayonet mod for CoD 2 on here so I might look into that. And thanks for the feedback!
If you need help with sctipts, feel free to contact me
Will do, having to take a two week break from it all at the minute so I'll probably end up messaging you after then. Cheers!
If you can give me some german and british lines i could try to do an accent for them. oh, and i hope that the german lines are english with a german accent instead of actual german.
Just the british lines will be fine for now. I did want to do the german parts in german but that campaign will be near the end, probably by 2016 or 2017 (I plan to stretch these out, so it's like a full game for each campaign if I can get a team together). But british lines would be great if you can do them. Maybe use them for a Captain Price - like character if you get my drift. Anyways, email me and I can arrange stuff. I'm still looking for Modellers and maybe people who are more experienced than me with Scripting (with such things like nodes and stuff)
Are the mod is dead? how evevr r.i.p call of duty iron wolf
Yeah sorry about that, maybe when I have time I'll try working on it again but it's been really difficult with Radiant not working
Hey! I found the cod 2 Radiant Error fix video Youtube.com
You must try out!
Thanks! I'll have a look and see if it works
