First Skirmish map, Normal, Wonders enabled. game crashes 3 hours in, unable to load saved game, as it is stuck on loading.
How many villagers did you have and how many your enemy?
In this update I changed a bunch of stuff in the campaign to try to fix this crash. If this type of crashes appear less in the campaign, I can carry over this fixes into skirmish
The campaign loads fine as well as God's land, but the campaign does seem to crash as well. No other mods in use. I've installed patches 1.0 1.1 1.2 & 1.3 (Fan Patch), bw2.rar before installing mod. 4gb patch on both White.exe and Whitemod.exe I started with Redux version 1.4.4 and updated to 1.5 four hours after it was uploaded to this site. I also run both in admin mode, no other compatibility changes. I've tried changing cores in affinity around from 1 2, 3 I settled for 4, the default with no change to crashes no matter the number. If I did anything wrong let me know. My Specs is W10, virtual memory 12.6 gb almost a whole terabyte of physical memory left, x64 PC, processor AMD A1-=7800 Radeon R7, 12 Compute Cores 4C+8G, 3500 Mhz. Crashes occur after a custom wonder is used, or after 3 hours of game play. I was working towards a population of 5000 to get Tribute I think. 3 in game Accounts. Last Crash in campaign I remember accord on land 6, before dialogue of enemy. Last crash in Skirmish occurred seemingly randomly. This seems to happen in any skirmish map. If I knew where the crash reports were I would try to provide this info as well. I had around 700 people in my town, also playing on normal, the enemy God burned half his town, that actually made me laugh lol. I cannot use the modded roads in White.exe but I can in Whitemod.exe . This is as much info as I can recall. I hope this info will be useful. I really love this mod, and the whole B&W series. I'm planning on getting Battle Of The Gods, if there are any mods for it I would like that, the Turtle Creature is an awesome Tank and the Forge keeps my troops tip top.
I turtle oftentimes. I can get up to in the thousands near the end even with a reduced population, Though my enemies populations get very small over time, especially in later levels, because they are either losing Troops or towns.
In the saved games the "first land" Is referred to as land 2002. The loading screen it is stuck on is the one of the Two God Hands facing off. I hope this info helps.
Ah right, another peace of info, is on the first Japanese mission, with the more peaceful brother, I forgot which land, I think it's 5. Whenever I save after 10 min or more of game play be it Auto or Official, I experience a crash. I just don't save on that map to avoid this major bug, but it is indeed a major bug. All my in game settings are at they're highest, blur and depth of field is set to off. I changed around my keybindings to be W,ASD, Ctrl Q E movement based. Quick save is on the home button, Load save is default, Villager info is on I. Cancel, demolish is now delete.
Well, I just replayed all the lands and only got a save-crash on the 4th aztec land.
Where did you install bw2? Same partition as Windows?
I personally have good experiences with installing bw2 to somewhere else than the windows drive, and then following my installation guide. I also cap the game to 60 fps with dxtory + I actually don't use any compatibilty mode and I don't start it as admin.
I've seen no change using it through steam. I'm wondering if using steam with steam overlay in game affects this mod.
I think it would also be helpful to people in the future to add the first step of the installation as, "0: Scan items for viruses, then disable firewalls temporarily while installing. This will prevent administrator permission problems." It's a little problem I ran into, it's easily solved.
My main game is at. C:\Program Files (x86)\Lionhead Studios\Black & White 2 . my saves are located at C:\Users\Mix Heart\Documents\Black & White 2 . I installed it from an old Black & White 2 official game probably released at least a year after 2005, the year it came out. with 4 CDs my brothers and I have kept safe and clean in it's fancy case, which has somewhat degraded over the years. I have not registered with any online services on the game.
I only have one drive, the C drive no other drivers.
Okay so I've tried a clean reinstall of everything, and followed the steps as close as I possibly could. When I try to use the optional file, which I was not originally going to use, however some features were not working so I used it. The bat came up with this.

Yea same problems as before, I get a freeze trying to load skirmish. Running through Whitemod.exe
I wouldn't recommend installing bw2 into program files. If you don't have any other drive I would recommend to install bw2 into C:\Games or something. That's most likely the reason why the bat from the patcher fails, running the bat as admin could work.
I have looked into the patcher.bat file, is this correct?

Unfortunately for me I have just found out that it crashes upon saving after a given amount of time on any map, skirmish or campaign, only in skirmish am I unable to reload a save, due to the frozen loading screen.
Do I need the CD to play? Just trying to be thorough.
Alright I have very good news and a bita bad news. Changing it to C:\Users\Mix Heart\Documents\My Games\Lionhead Studios\Black & White 2, has stopped all the save crashes and random crashes and I can load Skirmishes, just not the ones that I saved before, oh well. Now to the bito bad news. The Road drawing does not work.
Allright apparently I did not run the patcher.bat in admin, windows 10 has an issue with running .bat files in admin.
Allright looks like I did not need the CD fix. The CD Fix made it so that the patches did not work properly. So I just did the patches and the instructions thusly and the coding worked out fine. I will most likely tell you if I have any problems, but so far I'm good as gold now.
Yep, because of that just stick to the installation guide I wrote and the game should run with much less problems on win10 :)
CD fixes or no cd cracks break patch 1.3 which makes the game stable on newer windows versions.
Alright it works very well. It crashed while I cast a Siren wonder right outside the enemies influence, while at the same time completing my Seven Samurai Quest. The crash on save, and .bat has been fixed.
I moved the folder location, Without reinstalling B&W and changed the directory for Unpacker. I am unable to run the Patcher Bat in administrator as it closes before starting up.
It does the same with other bat files, it seems to be a Windows 10 issue.
I tried the location you suggested in game and problems still persist.
I've tried some scripting to try to force the bat file for patcher.bat to run in admin, I still get the same problem.

Tried the skirmish mode but i don't have a altar how do i cast miracles if i cant get mana?

I would like to know how to skip cinematic cut scenes of my choice. As much as I love hearing my adversaries bicker. It can get annoying.

Well convenient places for problems, the second one listed I'm actually wondering if it's a feature. Crash upon quitting the game, No Lion head or credits when starting game.
I think adding the Turtle creature would be pretty cool for a future update, I found a mod that can help with this, give credit of course. Gamefront.com All that would be needed is a duplicate of another creature replaced with these files, and a way to choose the turtle, that would be the challenge.
Adding any new creatures isn't really possible in this mod because I would've to replace the turtle files with for example the wolf files. And I think even then the sounds aren't working.
Only maybe possible way to get all creatures is porting the mod to BOTG (which isn't possible atm due to missing modding tools).
I also think resizing the creatures in they're growth would be nice, to make they're growth more noticeable and make the fully grown ones that much more epic, just a suggestion though.
I let creatures grow bigger in earlier version of the mod but sadly it resolved into navigation and animation issues which is why I reverted the change back to normal
In case my comment in the article did not make it through or more details are needed. I am getting a crash on Aztech land 9, some time after using a modded meteor epic on an enemies town. The town is to the left of the starting position in-game. It should be the smaller of the two towns with a Volcano Epic. The custom meteor spell was cast on a new wave of soldiers right by the Volcano epic, pretty much in the center of town. Another wave of troops was coming from all other towns at the same time. This is after both the Japanese and Norse Armies have joined up. My population is 572/790
