Hey love your guys idea and work, I love this period. just my pitch on the shields.
Most of the shields in the late 4th early 5th century were round but also bended inwards and worked sort of like the hoplons of the greeks and would also protect the right side of the man to your left(like the hoplon). here are a few examples: Bit.ly Bit.ly Bit.ly Bit.ly, Bit.ly. Granted all shields werent like that f.ex Bit.ly Bit.ly
Also possible to actually create a proper moving shield wall like this? Bit.ly they arnt that exciting atm ingame. one problem being you cant stab while covering behind your shield(if you have your shield blocking your life side, you obviously can stab one weapon while still having shield wall integrity, atm its only vs ranged I feel like. would love this to work with pilum/throwable as in, in formation
Also something like this. a testudo/phalanx mix: Bit.ly
Its a bit like this: Bit.ly but more a phalanx mix. first rank kneels down making a low shield wall while stabbing/bracing upwards or at the legs, the 2nd rank covers their heads with a high shield wall, stabbing/bracing. I picture this as a stationary formation, would love if they can throw their pilum/throwable while in formation
Note: dont make them too small :D
