The definitive gameplay enhancement mod for the GZDoom and Zandronum engines. Adds realistic gore, dismemberments, headshots, executions, lightning effects, particles, makes enemies smarter and harder, makes gun louder and beefier, and adds epic new boss battles.
A basic HUD for Brutal Doom that shows health, armor, ammo, keys, weapon and ammo icons, and Doomguy's face. Also has a grenade counter. Installation: 1) The zip comes with both 16:9 and 4:3 versions. Choose ONLY ONE of the files, based in your resolution, and put it on your skins folder. If you don't have a folder called Skins, just create one in your sourceport installation directory. (Do not copy the entire folder, only copy the .wad file). 2) The HUD will not be shown if your game is set to show the classic status bar. Keep pressing + or - in your keyboard until you get the "minimum hud" mode. Works both for Zandronum and Z/GZDoom. Make sure to remove any other HUD mods before installing this one.
Thank you so much for this man, I've been asking about it since the day of release of v20b, I can't wait until you fix the bug of picking up the mp40 in map 31, even cheating for all weapons, i still don't get the mp40, also the pink demon dogs feasting on corpses and grenade bowling is not functioning properly in v20b.

my mistake, the mp40 is set on 2 on the weapon selection.

GZDoom corrupted my file after a CTD, and I lost one week of work, including the rolling grenades and the pinky demon feasting on bodies. I got too frustrated to work on it again, and moved on more important matters, such as optimization and finishing the maps.
It's no big deal mark, and i take back what i said about being disappointed about this update, I just got done destroying your new starter pack, the best mod I've played in YEARS bro... Devil's domain is how the ending should have been in doom 2. Fantastic work mark.
So BD_blursphere cvar won't work then? I'm assuming, ah well guess I'll play with the marines for now just a suggestion why not make it a toggle on/off option in Brutal DOOM Options menu? just a suggestion would be alot easier, maybe in the next update version you can do it no pressure take your time
I would also like this, just place a toggle for marines/invisibility spheres like in project brutality.

A notice for Linux users: the folder must be named "skins" (lowercase) and placed in the config folder - ~/.zandronum/skins/smivhud 16-9.wad

I've been using your HUD for a while and I love it, but may I ask why are health/armor and ammo not in same position vertically? Basically health/armor are tooo low.
It bothers me a bit.
Is there any way to use these on a mac? I'm using osx gzdoom (latest), but putting the skin into a "skin" folder within the gzdoom folder that resides in the gzdoom user "application support" folder doesn't seem to allow me to select it in my gzdoom configuration. If I hit - or + I never see this custom hud even though I have installed it in a "skins" folder in the correct location. I just get the normal minimal gzdoom hud.
Update. I can get this to work if I just drag the HUD was onto gzdoom, but loading it with zdl doesn't seem to work for some reason. Any ideas?
if you want to use ZDL and this, load it after brutal doom v20b and before any other mod after, so example "map, music, brutal version, hud, weapons, textures, light effects, sounds' load any mod set you have in this order for optimal performance and best results with looks/sounds :)
Ah. No luck for me. This might just be an issue with zdl on the mac or a conflict with djui. Thanks for the advice, but it still doesn't seem to work that way.

If possible with the 16:9 version of this, could you move the HUD just a tiny bit to the left, the cut off with the weapon really ticks me off... damn OCD, I'm using the 4:3 version right now

This hud work very well for Brutal Doom v20b but not really for Project Brutality 2.03, he do not show the grenades, and the others numbers do not appear correctely.

I've got a question, why is that I have low fps in gzdoom, but in zandronum everything works perfectly? The reason I'm asking is because when using zandronum I'm missing on brutal doom options
Zandronum uses an older renderer that's easier on older systems.
GZDoom has more advanced graphics than Zandronum. Zandronum was meant to work on slightly older PC's. GZDoom has antialiasing / graphics options that you can tone down to REALLY change the FPS.
Windows Defender keeps blocking it, claiming it's a virus.
I'm having a bit of an issue trying to dual wield the plasma guns, i have the ammo but when i try to dual fire it doesn't seem to be working.
Also, where does one find the BFG (playing the starter pack atm).
this is great hud :) goes great with doom4 weapons mod and shows all the grenades in the inventory so you can always keep track with what items you got

This is a great HUD for Brutal Doom! The only problem I have is that the main menu text is used for the basic HUD instead of the HUD text in normal Doom. So if you're using an WAD/IWAD/MOD that uses large text for the main menu (FreeDoom, for example) with a 4:3 ratio (My laptop treats its screen as a 4:3 ratio), the text is going to go off the screen.

Dude, this HUD ******* rocks. I've been using ZDL3's default HUD for so long, this is like a breath of fresh, bloody smelling air. You are a king.

You just added the .wad files and they are shown so small when you play.
The problem that I have with this HUD is it doesn't come in .pk3 format. I use your other HUD called Simple HUD V1, and it works perfect if I load the .pk3 files intead the .wads; if I load the .wad files, I have the same problem.
Please reupload this HUD in .pk3 files just like you did with Simple Hud.
