Take a look here to fix all the common issues with wic mods

Posted by on

Wic has some quirks, and installing mods can sometimes be a pain. This guide should help clear up some problems people are having.

Installing Mod Location:
To get a wic mod to work, you need to place the mod inside a mod folder found in your shared folder. The default location varies due to operating system, but these are the usual defaults that the mod should be placed

Windows XP example
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\World In Conflict\Mods\ModFolderNameHere

Windows Vista\Win7 example:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\World In Conflict\Mods\ModFolderNameHere

  • Make sure that the mod gets installed to the drive of your operating system, sometimes mod installers (like mine) assume you have the operating system on the c drive. If it is a different drive, move the files to the appropriate drive.
  • Some computers may have a different location because there language settings are different and the folder has a different name. Make sure you have the files in the correct location

Common Windows XP Issues:

  • One thing I have noticed using my Windows XP machine is if file and printer sharing has been turned off after being turned on, the user becomes voided of rights to the shared folder and wic cannot open any of the mods in it. Because of this, iv had to leave file and printer sharing on on my computer for wic to identify any mods.
  • If you are on xp and still having issues, try putting the files into the All Users.windows folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.windows\Documents\World In Conflict\Mods

Common Windows Vista/7 Issues:

  • If you start a game and there are no game modes or random ta, then you need to give wic admin rights so it can run the custom python code. Find your games shortcut and right click and select properties. Check the box to run as administrator and you are all set. You know everything is ok when you start a match and the team selection screen has colorful text describing the current game mode running.

BriscoeMod Crashes Randomly in game:

  • This is a known issue that has to do with one of the bots trying to do an action and crashing the game. It is extremely difficult to debug and track down which bot is causing the problem. Try placing bots with different personality types into the game (aggressive, defensive, balanced, nuker). Hopefully you will avoid the bot(s) with the issue.

Still Having Issues?
If you are still having problems, visit the official wic forum thread on installing mods. This is a great reference, take the time and read through it.
