BrewLAN is a mod for Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance that has been in on and off development by a team of one for almost a decade. It adds a wide variety of new units for all factions, as well as offering several new game modes and features. The core design goals for the mod are simple; to add new, interesting, and visually aesthetic units which complement those already in existence and to maximise technical compatibility with other mods.

2 hours 24 minutes total to get it to this state. I have been recording it for the time-lapse.

Good looking design choice. Might i suggest, when active, the wire frame shell, opens as two hemispheres outwards along the z/x axis. At the same time, the radar will ascend through the opening, and begin beeping and other fancy ****. Thus it is clearly obvious if the structure is powered.

It's based somewhat on reality, and radomes are traditionally non-retracting permanent fixtures, and are also usually opaque. Although I'm going to have it semi-transparent, because static orbs are boring and lazy.

There will be plenty of indication of activation; I plan to have over a dozen antennas independently re-adjusting themselves, particle effects, blinky lights, steam, and other unpack and pack-up animations and things. It will be pretty obvious to everyone when this is on.

Description

A fairly early development shot of the new model for a unit that has existed for a while with very little shown about it because it currently reuses the model from a civilian building; the UEF experimental sensor array, the Panopticon.

This doesn't include all structures in the design. It is based on an amalgamation of the SBX-1, Jodrell Bank Observatory, and Goonhilly Earth Station. When it's done it's going to have a great deal more buildings, dishes, antennas, and other assorted observation equipment. I want it to look like it has the capacity to watch literally everything, because it does. The footprint will be increasing to accommodate this design, but that has always been the plan.
