Hello!

First of all we want to thank you for your interest in our project and for the great amount of downloads, thank you!

Secondly, we have finally decided to split Bloom into 2 versions, one adapted for Gzdoom and the other adapted for Zandronum. The reasons that have led us to this is that currently the differences between the two engines are insurmountable, making it affect the final quality of the mod. That is why this new update is ONLY AND EXCLUSIVELY for Gzdoom, later we will include the version exclusively for Zandronum (TBD).

The gzdoom version is focused on visual improvements in general, as well as voxels, shader etc... While the Zandronum version will be focused on online gaming and better performance for older computers.

You can now download the Gzdoom version and enjoy the improvements it provides, this is the list of what we have included:

  • - Bug fixing both at campaign level and mod level in general.
  • - Moved the Bloom menu to the general game menu to make it more intuitive.
  • - Removed 3d modelling for props, focusing everything on voxels.
  • - Added a lot of new voxels for vegetation, light sources, gore, objects, items, etc...
  • - Within the new menu you can adjust each of the voxel types according to your pc performance.
  • - Added new shaders like underwater effects and motion blur, all of them can be adjusted from the general menu.
  • - Simplified the BLM03 map gameplay making it more accessible.
  • - Fixed problem with the final boss confrontation.

Bug report (spoilers)


There's a pretty serious bug in the last boss fight. I have been through it several times now and about half the time, some of the bosses don't appear. The cause *seems* to be related to the prior spawns standing on the destination.

If I deliberately stun the small hands at the spawn point, the big hand doesn't appear. This part is easy to avoid. However, a good percentage of the time, the romero spider things block the big guy at the end from showing up. The only really reliable workaround seems to be to save before this segment of the fight and reload if the spawns don't work right.

I saw that ICARUSLIV3S (over on youtube) had the same problem so it wasn't just me.

Edit - Oh and here's a minor but *really* annoying bug. When you shoot a swimming zombie with one of those hands on his head, the high pitched "gimmie your soul" line glitches and repeats the very start of the sound basically forever. gigigigigigigigigigi and so on.

Really love the mod to the extreme but having some issue doing some custom maps. At times I would pick one key for example "the red skull key/fire key" but the door need another key that isn't on the map like " blue skull key/skull key". Everything else this mod kick ***.

Be prepared guys, we are working on improvements for BlooM after all recent feeedbacks.

The project will be split between GZDoom and Zandronum versions, so you will have 2 separate files! Lots of fixes for both versions, with enhanced shaders and voxels for GZDoom build and Cooperative plus tons of other stuff for Zandro and not only!
