I don't like how dark it is, just doesn't look right.
perhaps you are way used to playing the origional Half-life, which didn't have any projected shadow or light system to speak of? :D I think it is a good idea to make a large and varied environment, including a few "spooky rooms" where you have to use your flashlight. To each their own, i guess. :)
It's a ******* room that's dark. That's how rooms that are dark look.

Not really, some parts are completely black(such as the ceiling) and it just looks odd. The detailing of the room and everything is fine but the lighting is ugly in all honesty.
That may be due to the source engine's lighting engine. A dark room with the flashlight on might not look the best.

I like that level layouts are gonna be different this time around. Keep things fresh.
Different layout and additional rooms/ interactive experiments, but all the original features are still there, as well as a few surprises and expanded choreography.
If they're doing new things within the Black Mesa facility... imagine how amazing Xen will look.

After having replayed HL2 so many times, I wonder if I'll feel comfortable slaughtering Vortigaunts again.
Great atmosphere and action grab. Only needs moar motion blur to movement, would look awesome in this scene.
Are that green tubes in the background something like.....cryogenic tanks for preserving dead specimens?(Reminds me of Azure-Sheep)

I feel that the darkness looks awesome in this room and people should stop whining about it.
