Initially developed and released by Gearbox Software in 2001, second Half-Life add-on, Half-Life: Blue Shift is a return to the Black Mesa Research Facility and another look at the Incident's consequences from the eyes of Gordon Freeman's best friend - Barney Calhoun.
In 2012, Crowbar Collective has delighted Half-Life fans with release of the magnificent Half-Life remake, but there are still no released remakes for add-ons. This is when we are coming in - HECU Collective are developing the Black Mesa: Blue Shift - a free remake with use of Black Mesa resources and style. We will try to stay as close to the original Blue Shift and Black Mesa as possible. Our mod will be releasing partially, chapter by chapter, so those who are not patient for the full release will finally have something to play!

For those who missed it, in our previous post, we shared two new screenshots featuring thrilling new locations. And for those who have already enjoyed them to the fullest, let's move forward.
For the first time in a while, we've decided to not just showcase screenshots, but treat you some gameplay footage, revealing the richness and unique visual style of the Blue Shift's fifth chapter remake!
As you can tell from the title, our team participated in an interview with LambdaGeneration, where we delved into many technical aspects of development, shared exclusive development screenshots, answered your questions, and unveiled a secret about one of the new monsters you'll encounter in our version of Focal Point!
We posted a new .gif showcasing one of the chapter's caves on the Patreon page too, go take a look!
There's still a lot more stuff to show off, but we're saving it for future. Keep an eye on the news!
You can join and chat with us on Discord, VK and support us on Patreon where we post some exclusive content!

Are there any plans to replace Barney's crowbar with a more unique weapon, like a baton for example? Gordon has his crowbar, Shephard has his pipe wrench & knife, Barney could have a baton :)
This is quite cool idea but wouldn't make 100% cannon (imo) since in HL:BS we use and find crowbar.
Personally, i would like it to remain a crowbar. Barney falls in the elevator to the storage floor or similar, with a lot of boxes, and it's understandable that there was crowbar left near them.
We will make a pole when players will decide what we should add
It looks great so far but as other people said I'm worried about it being overshadowed by Guard Duty if that is finished before this is done.
Now don't get me wrong, I am the last one to discourage able creators but, what is the point of creating the same thing alongside another team, who has been working on it for a long time and naturally has a more concrete end product, when you have an unfinished project on hold?
Are you guys able to implement the flashlight feature that Guard Duty has?
most likely not, since that would already take the uniqueness out of this version of the remake
In my opinion they won't be able to since Crowbar Collective still didn't release the source code. But there could be another way to do idk.
This look like a good mod and I am excited.
Really like the locations design, much love to original :)
So you cancel a project half way through and expect people to be excited about a new one? Cool can't wait for you guys to cancel this in 5 years and pick a new thing to remake.
Part two will continue to development after the remake of the blue shift. Development is frozen for a while due to team fatigue in creating Azure Sheep. We will return to it immediately after the release of Blue Shift, even if it takes 2-3 years.
I believe this team did not cancel anything, if you were talking about Black Mesa: Insecurity that was someone else's project.
There's a comment from a Dev on the next page saying that Azure Sheep is cancelled, I know that Insecurity development ended years ago
