Initially developed and released by Gearbox Software in 2001, second Half-Life add-on, Half-Life: Blue Shift is a return to the Black Mesa Research Facility and another look at the Incident's consequences from the eyes of Gordon Freeman's best friend - Barney Calhoun.
In 2012, Crowbar Collective has delighted Half-Life fans with release of the magnificent Half-Life remake, but there are still no released remakes for add-ons. This is when we are coming in - HECU Collective are developing the Black Mesa: Blue Shift - a free remake with use of Black Mesa resources and style. We will try to stay as close to the original Blue Shift and Black Mesa as possible. Our mod will be releasing partially, chapter by chapter, so those who are not patient for the full release will finally have something to play!

For those who missed it, in our previous post, we shared two new screenshots featuring thrilling new locations. And for those who have already enjoyed them to the fullest, let's move forward.
For the first time in a while, we've decided to not just showcase screenshots, but treat you some gameplay footage, revealing the richness and unique visual style of the Blue Shift's fifth chapter remake!

Will this get achievements similar to Black Mesa
Sadly but this is impossible without source code or a steam release. But we will try to make them as a in game pop-up.
Just as a general question. Is there a particular reason why Crowbar Collective won't share their source code? I find it ironic seeing that it's exactly Valve's open stance to source code releasing that led to their mod existing on Steam today. :/
Source's engine code isn't openlu available, you don't have engine access unless you get a license from Valve. Consequently, BM's code contains legally license code that they can't release. It's not their call.
very nice
I'm pretty sure if you guys talk with Crowbar collective, they are willing to share a version of their bm engine, but you will have to create a lot assets, especially some xen creatures.
I don't know what to think guys. Personally I'd prefer to see Azure Sheep completed first, with a Blue Shift remake is alredy coming. But if you feel this is the better way to proceed, so be it. Fingers crossed for you! Just don't fall between the two chairs, as they say.
Waiting with impatience success!
Just heard the voice clips for Otis, now I am curious to hear who you have planned for Rosenberg.
We have someone who sounds SCARILY similar to him. Like, it freaks me out how accurate it is...
Are there any plans to replace Barney's crowbar with a more unique weapon, like a baton for example? Gordon has his crowbar, Shephard has his pipe wrench & knife, Barney could have a baton :)
This is quite cool idea but wouldn't make 100% cannon (imo) since in HL:BS we use and find crowbar.
Personally, i would like it to remain a crowbar. Barney falls in the elevator to the storage floor or similar, with a lot of boxes, and it's understandable that there was crowbar left near them.
We will make a pole when players will decide what we should add
