Initially developed and released by Gearbox Software in 2001, second Half-Life add-on, Half-Life: Blue Shift is a return to the Black Mesa Research Facility and another look at the Incident's consequences from the eyes of Gordon Freeman's best friend - Barney Calhoun.
In 2012, Crowbar Collective has delighted Half-Life fans with release of the magnificent Half-Life remake, but there are still no released remakes for add-ons. This is when we are coming in - HECU Collective are developing the Black Mesa: Blue Shift - a free remake with use of Black Mesa resources and style. We will try to stay as close to the original Blue Shift and Black Mesa as possible. Our mod will be releasing partially, chapter by chapter, so those who are not patient for the full release will finally have something to play!

For those who missed it, in our previous post, we shared two new screenshots featuring thrilling new locations. And for those who have already enjoyed them to the fullest, let's move forward.
For the first time in a while, we've decided to not just showcase screenshots, but treat you some gameplay footage, revealing the richness and unique visual style of the Blue Shift's fifth chapter remake!
As you can tell from the title, our team participated in an interview with LambdaGeneration, where we delved into many technical aspects of development, shared exclusive development screenshots, answered your questions, and unveiled a secret about one of the new monsters you'll encounter in our version of Focal Point!
We posted a new .gif showcasing one of the chapter's caves on the Patreon page too, go take a look!
There's still a lot more stuff to show off, but we're saving it for future. Keep an eye on the news!

Hello HECU-team,
Maybe you know how to add a second campaign to the main menu interface?
I was able to add a new BLUE SHIFT button in the Campaign tab/section but the server/client code is linked only to the vanilla one (campaign) and we (myself) needs a new addition like bs_campaign. Maybe the Source code of BMS is available?

Unfortunately they don't have the BMS source code
Hello Black Mesa: Blue Shift team. I am just wondering if this works with the Black Mesa: Source 2012 mod for Half-Life 2?
Of course not.
Hello, I am really into the idea of remaking half life add-ons. Do you think there is a chance Half Life Decay can be made in this engine?
In case you didn't already know, there is a team doing a remake from scratch for Decay: Moddb.com
This is amazing! Glad that the original Gearbox Addons are being remade! But if Crowbar Collective decides to make a Blue Shift remake, what would happen to this? Or are they gonna have the community do that? Anyway, digging into the mod, when I started a map manually using the console (main black mesa maps) and set it to a map at the start of a chapter, I could see that the chapter title has been changed for the Blue Shift remake. Not a bad thing, just glad to know that HECU Collective are hard at work.
Don't worry, Crowbar Collective won't be working on any addon remakes, they're currently working on a brand new project unrelated to the Half-Life universe, so there's no danger of any addon remakes from the community.
I find that strange since the whole reason they're called Crowbar Collective was because of the Black Mesa project. I mean I really can't think what game they would work on that is not Half-Life related, especially since their logo is like the Half-Life lambda and has a crowbar from Half-Life. Does that make sense?
They'll most likely move on to other games and not focus on remakes.
cant wait to see how you guys remake the xen levels.
