what is the recommended configuration for the computer support this mod? I have 3gb RAM and when I select resign my game crashes.
this could be from using the Black ICE panzeroo.exe to launch the game. This has been reported to cause save game issues. Using the normal launcher and ticking the Black ICE mod box seems to work better.
Uh, how do you use armored trains as Germany?
Armoured trains are basically a flavour garrison unit designed to protect/ compliment the political leader units. They move via strategic deployment ( same as the political leaders) have good suppression stats and good AA. However not so useful on the frontlines.
Hellow, Panzeroo! I have the next problem with all versions of BI except v3.01. I download the files, install the game (using podcat's TFH exe) then run the game. Everything is all right untill 1937-1938 or starting war. First disappears images in tech tree, then everywhere. I thought this problem connected with an old files BI, but i uninstalled them from all folders. When i play v3.01 this problem has gone. Do you have any ideas why it had happened?
Same problem here. When disappears the game crashes too.(using podcat's TFH exe)
To me it sounds like its related to your video card. BICE has increased in size substantially since version 3.
I dont think so, but is there a solution?
people who report the GFX vanishing typically have video card issues. There is a thread on the paradox HOI3 tech support which works through GFX issues. Forum.paradoxplaza.com***Hearts-of-Iron-3-Known-issues-fixes-workarounds-etc.***-MEGATHREAD
Ok, i understood the problem. Can you suggest video card that will work?
Panzeroo, can you write memory (GB RAM) is needed, PC requirement

the mod should work with the same requirements as the normal HOI3 TFH game though you NEED to use podcat's TFH exe since you need more then 2Gb memory.
There is also an issue with people using 32bit systems.
podcat's TFH exe ~
LAA = large address aware, and what it's for is it unlocks the 2 GB ram limitation of the exe. I had always assumed you needed a 64 bit OS for it to work, but some people have said it would work on the 32 bit also. It was a hold over from 32 bit OS, locking applications down to 2gb max of ram as 32 bit OS, can't handle above 3.5 GB ram.
With 32bit systems one needs also to use the "/3GB" switch in the "boot.ini" system file, like in the last line here:
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS = "Microsoft Windows XP Home /3GB" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /3GB /Userva = 2900
Also, "/Userva=XX" is important to set the amount of memory the system reserves for applications; in the case above, 2900 MB.
With 32bit system the address space is 4GB total, and that includes everything, memory reserved for system use and system resources.
The application memory is generally limited to 2GB to avoid overflow in the space reserved to the system. When setting the /3GB switch,
one has to make sure that the system resources will never exceed the remaining address space, or the system will crash.
Using the /3GB switch without a LAA application is a waste of resource memory;
using a LAA app without the /3GB switch will provide no benefit. The two settings must go together to work.
Is there a Dunkirk event? It would seem as if nothing had happened a month after taking this land.
there isn't really a good way to model Dunkirk. It would be too problematic to try to check how many units exist and which units could be evacuated and in fact whether they need to evacuate or whether the AI is using them in its defence. The AI won't evacuate units byitself either. The closest there is to that is when the BEF units shatter and reform at the UK theatre command.

Thank you for this Hotfix. When I'm playing as Germany in March 1941 I get the option to upgrade the 3.Panzer-Division. (EVTDESC400019) No matter if I decline or allow the upgrade, the message keeps returning on an almost daily basis. By the end of March 1941 I have about 20 units called 3.Panzer-Division. That's probably not as you intended it to be, is it? :) I have further noticed, that in at least one message you translated "Wach-Bataillon" or "Wach-Abteilung" with "awake battailon". In this case the German word "Wach" doesn't mean "awake"; it means "on guard" or "on the watch". So something like "guard battailon" would probably be the best translation.
3 Pz div spam is noted. There is a new hotfix which will be uploaded here shortly.
Hey um, there might be some border problems after defeating Germany. Nations that were annexed by Germany don't get complete independence.
just want to ask, as italy how to form new roman empire ? and how to invite yugoslavia into axis via italy ? how to have the flag italy_balkan. i tried looking in decision and event folder and i am confused.... thanks before
I've played as Italy :)
So i'll give some answers.
1. To form the "New Roman Empire", you just expand. I suggest you focus everything on conquering Egypt and take the Suez Canal. This lets you supply Italian East Africa and stops reinforcements coming from the Suez Canal. You can then focus your navy on ships coming from the straights of Gibraltar.
There are mines in the Suez canal so you should clear them with ships or bombers. After this, you can conquer the middle east and than ultimately Greece, Malta, Cyprus and Yugoslavia.
Hence an East Roman empire. You could conquer/puppet Vichy France and Spain after this to really complete this.
2. Yugoslavia will automatically join the Axis via an event in 1941, but there will be another event which is a coup of the Yugoslavian government and they will leave the axis. Than there will be another event about the invasion of Yugoslavia by the axis powers in order to destroy the "traitors". (Yugoslavia has many Italian, Hungarian, and Bulgarian cores and defeating it will restore all of these cores strengthening the 3 countries and lets you create the puppet states of Croatia and Serbia which will greatly assist you, their divisions can help you invade Greece and the Croatian navy will slightly help you wrestle control of the Mediterranean sea.)
3. You get the italy_balkan flag a while after Germany defeats France and Germany chooses to give Italy the main influence over the Balkans. This will be a prelude to the coup d'etat of Yugoslavia and the axis invasion.
woho, thanks for the explanation. i think i do something wrong coz italy_balkan flag didnt happen to me even after germany invade yugoslavia and ultimately greece followed after.
i choose to puppet abbysinia earlier. is it bad or good decision ?
Maybe Germany had decided to put the Balkans under German influence and thus, not give the italy_balkan flag.
The puppeting of abbysinia is only bad if you don't do the decision of "A new Roman Empire" and instead clicked "You are not Caesar". But it could be good if you puppeted Abyssinia after clicking "A new Roman Empire".
I would recommend that if you can't take Egypt fast enough. Well i'd have to admit, the British are difficult in Egypt and always forces me to retreat hundreds of miles into Libya to get the Afrika Korps event.
The puppet of Abyssinia will continue to produce supplies (but no fuel) and it's divisions will help cover you defensively while you conquer British+French Somaliland.
But if you could smash your way to the suez canal in time to supply Italian East Africa, I would say annexing would be slightly more beneficial. Considering you could use the Abyssinian industry directly and produce your own war materials instead of weak Ethiopian militia.
oh, thanks for the advice :3. will try again. i think i made good progress in afrika, very bad progress in yugoslavia (germany stealing them from me), appaling progress in the sea... sunking some of brit ships but in the end my fleet need to be repaired in the dock but brit still hv numerous BB,CV....
Well if you didn't get the italy_balkan event and got germany_balkan, it seems as if Germany will leave you little. But if you did get the event, you could fully annex Yugoslavia even if Germany did all of the work (Axis Cores would return to the other axis powers though).
But whats better is that the Suez canal is taken.
Than you could destroy ships and convoys coming in through the Gibraltar straights with your planes and air covered ships, effectively starving the entire allied Mediterranean area and bleeding the British navy white.
You also have some leverage to conquer Yemen and the rest of the British possessions on the lower Arabian peninsula. And if you could dislodge the suez canal mines (vital for your convoys to and from East Africa), you could conquer the territories east of the suez and isolate Cyprus, leading to it's conquest. That leaves Malta alone and what you do there is from here on out.
Would someone please explain me how this local_ic in heavy industry works??
When I installed the hotfix it went smoothly, but upon launching the game it says 6.22 beta in the upper left. I'm assuming that means I am running the proper version and the text was not updated to reflect 6.24. Should I ignore it or did I not install it properly, Thanks.
Hello! Playing as UK I find that Japan by 1941 has over 550 IC and has a very advanced technology base, maybe this is historical, but it made it extremely hard to defend South East Asia and basically I had to take care of Germany and Italy first, Which was relatively easy. I am slightly concerned that Japanese land power is that high, but maybe this will vary the more I play. Also Japan began to create partisan rebellions all over Africa as I was invading France?? Seriously like 10 rebellions every week! And also I checked on Finland once and they had an army of 810 000 men on the eastern front by 1942, positioned all the way down to Crimea! Tips on handling Japan would be most welcome :)
You probably had chosen a high difficulty for Japan. This is not truly historical as a high difficulty was chosen by you due to the fact that the AI uses a static and easily manipulable tactic. The partisan divisions are not made by Japan I think, but by Colonial rebels. As for Finland, I also think this was due to the chosen difficulty.
Finland also received divisions from Germany which was used to invade the Soviets in the far north to capture the Murmansk Oblast in an operation known as Operation Arctic Fox.
Capturing the city of Murmansk would reduce allied lend-lease, greatly assist in capturing the entire Oblast with German and Finnish forces plummeting south and shorten the front - threatening Arkhangelsk.
Ok, thanks for the info. Yeah I guess it can be related to the difficulty setting, although if I'm not mistaken I selected "Easy Japan" as national decision, I usually only go with "Normal" on al AI-participants as I am not sure how it affects the game otherwise. The funny thing is that partisan forces in Northern Africa were acutally Japanese in quite a few instances, it seemed as if they had superpowered espionage abilities as well. With Finland I'm not sure how they were able to support such a large army with 40IC. Also it's quite interesting that every time I have played the AI always choose to go forward with Operation Seelöwe, lands a few forces which get wiped out in a week by Home Command, and is never heard from again! That is not very historical since Raeder's study of the conditions necessery for success stated the the Royal Navy must first be eliminated as a threat, and also the RAF must be eliminated, as well as coastal defences. Neither of these conditions are met but the German A.I always make a failed attempt. Anyway if it wasn't for Black Ice I wouldn't be playing HOI3, it's extremely addictive.
That must be a bug, I do not believe you could spawn partisan divisions as Japan in Africa legally (Maybe you could but I dunno). But anyways, the Finns on German territory use German supplies so it's probably the Germans absorbing much of the maintenance for those units.
Operation Sealion doesn't look to historical, but it is absolutely possible to land divisions on the Coast of Britain. The problem is supplying them, as the Royal Navy obliterates Germany's convoys. Although they do get thousands of supplies in the event, these will run out fast and the divisions would rely on captured British supplies. Perhaps in BI, the German AI Hitler is less sympathetic towards the British and desires their conquest in order to make a real military gain. Sometimes the AI actually succeeds in invading Britain as they land extra forces in addition to the forces created by the operation sealion event. I've had it happen once, although I used Japanese transport planes (was neutral) to help supply these divisions.
Will the operation overlord get text files?
Guys do you know about problem with German 3rd Panzer Division?
It's a bug, it will be fixed in the next patch for Black Ice.
Yeah please do that asap....! & ntw when is the next patch??
"With 32bit systems one needs also to use the "/3GB" switch in the "boot.ini" system file, like in the last line here:"
I am running this mod in Win 7 Ultimate 32bit and I have 3 GB RAM(with no RAM locking)
But... I cannot editing this boot.ini file or I cannot find this file.
Boot.ini file is not opening in safe mode and I tried same work on C:\Boot\BCD but it is no opening.
So my game is crashing on starting. Also world map screenshots and all other randomly crashes.
So if I have to saying my question in summary;
-How I can find this boot file in Windows 7
-How I can editing this file in Windows 7
If anyone please help me, I will be more happy and I will send my thanks. :)
Hey I found how can i do this work about editing boot file in Windows Vista and later versions!(including 7,8 server 2008 etc.)
Firts of all, start>run>cmd and press enter key. In console commander, entry that:"bcdedit /set increaseuserva 2900"
Do not entry quotation marks and do not entry additional spaces. Just entry this command and restart your computer.
Panzeroo's tutorial about editing boot.ini file is in valid for Windows XP and earlier versions, not about Windows Vista and 7! But this mod don't working stability in Windows XP. :)
So it is just enough, but make sure have enough RAM(system using memory don't exceed 2900 MB[or if you have not enough RAM, you can entry lower amount like 2600 instead 2900 MB])
Hey, first i have to say thank you! I really love your mod. It makes the game much better and intense.
I installed 6.22 and after that the hotfix. I am note sure wether i've done it right. Version ist still 6.22 (NNGM) and the "3. Panzer-Division"-spam is still there. In which exact location the hotfix belongs?
Gunnar the panzer division bug is to be addressed in the next hotfix. the checksum is correct for this hotfix
Do you install this over the 6.2 download or over a clean TFH?
It's installed over the 6.2 download.

Please help, I want to start playing!
I believe it's
C:\Program Files (x86)\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron III\tfh\mod
Do you install this into the Black Ice folder or into the mod folder?
I have installed a fresh 6.2 download and then downloaded the 6.4 hotfix of that, replacing the folders, is this correct because the games main screen still says 6.22 beta?
Yes this is correct, I believe that is just a bug. I have that on my main screen too.
