Description
Installing BlackICE may seem daunting at first, but provided you follow the directions here, you should have a relatively easy time with it. Step 1: After you have downloaded BlackICE, copy the installer to the same directory that as the hoi3game.exe and hoi3_tfh.exe files in it. Generally speaking, this will be somewhere like: • d:\games\Hearts of Iron 3 • c:\games\steam\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron 3 Step 2: Install Podcat's LAA (Large Address Aware) version of the HOI3 .exe file with BlackICE. This will solve a great many issues with the game crashing as it will take advantage of the larger amounts of memory that newer computers can use. Podcat's LAA .exe file can be found in the Tech Support thread on the PI forum •Overwrite the original hoi3_tfh.exe file with it. Step 3: Run the installer. Do Not Change ANYTHING unless you know what you are doing, just hit next until you see finish. Click on finish.

pazero hello .... I have a problem with your beautiful mod, when I go to save the game crashes .... why ???? Help me please
the most common fix for the save game CTD is to delete the blackice logs file in user/documents/paradox/hoi3/blackice.
Some people report success deleting and rebuilding the map cache as well.
Also reports programmes running in the background can be a problem, esp anti virus. There is an entire thread on the paradox forum with people posting their fixes. As you can see it seems to be related to how your computer runs the game. A lot of people ( including myself) have never had the problem at all. Forum.paradoxplaza.com

Hey panzeroo, i'm preparing for 8.5 by getting fresh install of the game but what about the folder in documents that contains save games and logs and settings etc... Is it best to delete that stuff or let it be as it is?
its a good idea to delete the blackice folder in user documents. Old Save games won't work in 8.5, the map will need to rebuild and previous logs can cause save game CTD problems

Having problems playing online with a friend. When he tries to build a unit/regiment/airplane the game " freezes" and he cant change a thing. Have someone else encounter this problem? is there an soloution.
We have reinstalled the game, no trees, no water. Cleanded the logs, saved files and we have LAA.exe file
its not a known issue. Most likely he has an install error.
Ive done everything, it starts up but gets to database 2 and says UNKOWN EXPCETION and stops, the only thing ive missed is deleting my HOI3 saves but I don't know how to HELP
Ri ive got the mod working but the screens weird I mean I can only see the panzer in the screens gun and it ruins the tabs..
what screen resolution do you have ? Maybe not enough resolution
Hi I have the same problem metioned with science (Red techs, techs selectable can not be researched, some buttons over another ones, etc.), problems selecting units, 43 production with only 11 real production used. New and direct installation in a new folder deleting previously any previous HOI game. Version 7 worked fine. I will downgrade the version. Thanks for your job anyhow.

i have probblem. Im playin as Germans. When i defeat poland i get event "Neutrality Happens to Us" and i get truce with Poland? Why i cant occupie the country?
what is your checksum. Never heard of this happening for anyone before

When I want to download the file, it says: "The file you have selected (BI8_golf.exe) is not available via any mirrors. Please check back shortly as our servers update every 5 minutes."

what is your issue exactly ? what checksum do you have ? basically its going to be some sort of install issue.
Every time I try to run the installer after placing the download in the hearts of iron folder it says I don't have the software to run the file. I have the podcat fix downloaded correctly so I don't know why it won't run.
so why i have available decreasing tech in country controled by me and country controled by SI doesn't have it?
AI has the decreasing/ increasing strength available as a decision activated tech, rather then researchable. This way it gains the tech if it needs it ( for example if its manpower drops below a certain point it might activate a decrease strength size level).

you need all the expansions ( semper fi, for the motherland, their finest hour.) as well as podcat's TFh exe from the paradox HOI3 tech support forum. register HOI3 and TFH to access it.

try deleting your logs folder in Black ice user/documents

Can you please improve the pictures for the units? because most infantry support tanks are from russian origin and some sprites are outdated asf
any specific nation ? The generic unit GFX isn't likely to be changed ever. If you want better sprites there is a BICE sprites sub mod which you can find on the paradox Black ICE forum
Way to put the required LAA file on a forum that cant even be accessed. I'll never understand modders who just ******* cant make everything available in one location. Is that hard to have the file on here?
The LAA file isn't ours to share. Its owned by paradox. To share it here would breach copyright. Since it is basically the TFH exe which a paradox dev modified. If you want it you have to register your TFH expansion on the paradox forum. Its their way of stopping pirates I guess.
