BLACK I.C.E. is an extensive mod of HOI3 under development by Panzeroo and many other members of the Hearts Of Iron 3 forum.
Installing BlackICE may seem daunting at first, but provided you follow the directions here, you should have a relatively easy time with it. Step 1: After you have downloaded BlackICE, copy the installer to the same directory that as the hoi3game.exe and hoi3_tfh.exe files in it. Generally speaking, this will be somewhere like: • d:\games\Hearts of Iron 3 • c:\games\steam\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron 3 Step 2: Install Podcat's LAA (Large Address Aware) version of the HOI3 .exe file with BlackICE. This will solve a great many issues with the game crashing as it will take advantage of the larger amounts of memory that newer computers can use. Podcat's LAA .exe file can be found in the following Tech Support thread on the PI forum •Overwrite the original hoi3_tfh.exe file with it. Step 3: Run the installer. Do Not Change ANYTHING unless you know what you are doing, just hit next until you

Oh and if you don't want to ad this 100% for all minors you could just put button /event at the begining of the game for people to click it if they want you could even let them chose betwen 25-50-75-100-150% (i would do that by myself but i don't know how:/). I like challenge but i also like when game allows me to progress and i would take take this 100% bonus it still would make underpowered to main powers but then i could try to defeat all of them until 1968r. And if it would make game to easy to me then i would try maybe 75% or less ;)

I see you point, and it might be a fun idea for players who want to expand as minors. In BICE 8 there will also be special research lab buildings which you can build in provinces and increase research.

The Kampfgruppe Units and Giant Infrastructure Projects not active in my game (y play the last version of mod and of course of the game too).
I research "Giant Infrastructure Projects" techs and I have the bonus and penalty associated, but i have not events for construct nothing. With monumental architecture and broadcasting I have the bonus and penalty and the events.
The Kampfgruppe Units... I dont know even as research that units.
I tested with Nacionalist China, Japan, German and Spain.
And nothing :/

you need to have chosen long term investment option in the yearly economic event ( not the short term option)
Kampgruppes are historical event only and are only available for Germany, and a few events for the USA and UK where those nations had historical combat groups. The first Kampgruppes for Germany will be the return of KG 88 from the Spanish civil war, and KG Kempf just prior to the invasion of Poland. The Kampgruppes are also only temporary battle formations. They will last about 6 months ingame ( sometimes more if you are lucky). Once that 6 months is up they will be usually be removed unless they are in a battle. China, Japan and other nations don't have kampfgruppes.

Hello, great mod btw gave me lots of enjoyment. I have one major problem though my checksum changes during gameplay. Fresh install SOXD, when I resign it shows TOXD. This the game as well. Various events do not happen such as the annexation events for Germany. The event fires but nothing happens. Thanks for looking
Checksum will change its first letter when you resign/reload to prevent multiplayer cheating.
the annexation events work fine for Germany ( guessing you mean anthluss/ Czech ?) provided you meet the requirements.
Later Germany annexed the Czech and austria after their event fired so it is all good. Thanks for replying
my game(with mod) runs fine but does the mod run on "Their Finest Hour"? I can't seem to find the scenarios from TFH when I run BlackICE.

Hi, first I want to say that I'm enjoing the mod a lot, amazing job.
That said I don't know if it's a bug or a mistake by my side but playing as Republican Spain (with Toledo controlled) the research of the specialized HQ's doesn't trigger the events for the actual formation of the units as it happens with Germany or UK.

the special HQ OOBs have only been made for the major nations. Its a lot of work to set them up as they need to be made unique events for each nation. If other nations are made, it will be the more important minors. Republican spain will probably need someone else with time and dedication to set them up. However you still gain a bonus from each level of tech so the research isn't a total waste.

Panzeroo I'm having some serious trouble i do not know what i have don't wrong but i can not even load the games main menu.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the mod multiple times yeh the main game still works. When i load your mod up it takes ages to get throught some of the loading screens and then just crashes after about 3-4 minutes and never reaches the main menu and i dont know where to get the current checksum i cant seem to find it in the forums.
so if you could maybe suggest some better ideas on what i should do i will continue to try to play vanilla.
are you using podcat's TFH exe ?

the link belongs to paradox as the TFH exe is their product. You need to register your copy of TFH expansion on their forum in order to access the modified TFH exe.
okay so i have downloaded everything except for the 7.54cache files simply because i keep getting network errors.
though i think the main problem is that my laptop is so old it cant handle the mod so im going to move the game over to my actual computer so i will get back to you if everything is okay and dandy.
I have a problem with invasion when i play as Germany. I try to invade Norway and it show blue line but army isn't going forward. And for example in UK invasion work. I don't know why this happened. Can anyone help me please?
you need to use auxiliary vessels ( barges/ small ships) for sea invasions or research and build landingcraft. Ocean liners cannot do sea invasions, they are used to transport troops between ports only. The auxiliary vessels are available by OOB event when your nation first goes to war and once a year thereafter.

there are no other reports of a CTD on this date/ time period. Does anything big happen around this time ? Fall of france and Vichy for example ?

So for some reason when i got done invading the British and took London after awhile i got the option for the British SS Division but when i got them i noticed that the Infantry and Stug section were messed up as in the name of of it was fine but it didn't show the Strength nor the organization of it and it didn't show any picture of the Infantry and Stug also when i tryed to split them to use the units that did work (like the Artie) my game crashed. now it ain't game breaking for me since i have 4 or 5 Corps filled with SS and more scattered in Germany but i would like to have some Brits involved if possible
are you using a submod ? Don't recall any British SS divisions in BICE.
Oh i am using the Third Reich events submod but i thought the British SS were apart of BICE (sorry for that)
Nice mod, but what I hate about mods like this you have to go on a treasure hunt through your computer. Then you must put the files up your arse and all over the place and you then start dancing with a folder....

First off as this is my first post, thank you to the whole team for an outstanding mod that improved on the already great Hearts of Iron 3 at least 100x over. However, I seem to be having issues with with crashes when the game saves. Whenever the game does crash (unless something got f'ed up and I need to reinstall Hoi3/BIce) its the result of an autosave or save and the saved game file shows with the Black Ice country logo and has January 0 or something as the date in place of the save it was supposed to do, is there any way to fix this? It occurred far less often when I was able to run the podcat.exe in Windows XP SP4 compat but alas with the upgrade to windows 10 this is no longer feasible. specs - win10 x64 i-5-4590k @ 3.5Ghz nvidia GTX 970's 8gb hard drive ram + 4 virtual. my checksum is also correct based on replies you gave to others with other issues
I should mention this problem occurs FAR more often when playing as any country aside from Germany, and I also am currently using the Third Reich Events mod even though this problem has existed long long before I started using it and throughout every version of BIce I've played on 4 different PC's since 2012 :/
unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it in terms of modding. The problem is with each players computer and how it creates the logs/ possibly map cache. Some people have the issues, others don't. Its not so much related to the power of your computer so much as the operating system. HOI# is an old game engine and not entirely optimised for new operating systems. BICE pushes the engine to the limits and makes the problem worse. There are a few things you might be able todo. In user/documents there is a Black ICE folder which has savegames/ settings etc. It also has the logs and map cache. Logs are created fresh each time the game loads. The map cache the first time the mod loads. You can delete the logs folder before starting the mod and let it create a fresh one. You could even try deleting the map cache. Also keep save game files to a minimum in the save game folder.Beyond that its a case of trial and error to see what can be done on your computer ( setting all the game exes to admin, XP compat mode etc). Most people find a solution.
Yeah unfortunately thats what I've been doing, and I've already reset my cache in the docs 5x this week and earlier today reinstalled Hoi3/BIce from scratch and completely deleted the Hearts of Iron 3 folder in /documents/paradox interactive :| it took until October '36 for the first AutoSave crash even with this (i like autosave on cause its far worse when it ISNT on and then you save and go back months instead of days) .. as I said the issue was minimized with this system using windows XP SP4 for all the exe's (namely podcats was the one that fixed it) before, but with Windows 10 XP compatability pack is no longer accessible and I'm at a loss... It's a testament to your mod tho that I've been seriously considering reverting to Windows 8 just to be able to play Black Ice ^^

Hi panzeroo, I found a very puzzling condition when playing SOV. I defeated japan and made JAP as a puppet via the option "puppet" or "install communism". Everything goes well and Japan will be a normal puppet initially, but Japan will be at war with me shortly. Then comes the issue: JCP is or will be the rulling party, Japan is a puppet of SOV, troops on the territory of JAP will recieve supplies from Tokyo, but all my military units will occupy land from JAP.
I don't know if this "issue" was set as this or it is a bug. Thank you.

I am the Grofaz I conquered the world on Grofaz levels. You should have a sturm artillerie event. Manstein developed that in 1938. Invasion of Turkey realistically should lead to war with soviets (game is easily won when turkey is conquered leading my axis armies to china and attacking Russia on 5 fronts) but turkey should be allowed to join axis without war. Food should be a natural resource like oil, it is the most important war material and exposed on the map. Supply routes and depots should be established and discovered with espionage making espionage a much larger aspect of the game. Build railroads, railroads should be your land supply and should be visible on the map. Control of railroads meant victory or defeat in WW2. These small adjustments would be great. Just a thought. To conquer Russia I had to rely on Russian supply after I had taken the territory pushing my advance just to get supply. I did I am the Grofaz.

Hey Panzeroo great advice man thanks one question you mentioned Podcasts TFH exe does not work with 32 bit systems unless modified..how would i go about doing that? perhaps i missed it somewhere in the thread..any help would be awesom, just like MrEric4012 my game crashes when i get to loading database II and says "unknown exception".
