The Battle for Middle-earth: Tactics is a Tolkien's lore based RTS. You can stand with forces of Light in order to unite and make a stand for Middle-Earth, or crush the enemies of Mordor while bringing havoc and desolation in the name of Sauron.

When we started developing BFME:Tactics we
merely planned to create another BFME 1-remake with enhanced graphics, new
units and other innovations in gameplay. However, as development was moving on
we understood that it had to become something bigger than just another cool
mod. The idea of changing whole mechanics, converting them into "classical" RTS
macro- and micromanagement style has not come easily to us. Spending hours of
analyzing different strategies of old and new like DUNE series, CnC
RA/Generals, Warcraft/Starcraft, it became clear that BFME always had its own,
unique mechanics in a way. Now matter how we love good old BFME (and we love it
so much), we were still not satisfied with the fact that players cannot
actually run low on resources: resources cannot be depleted, therefore most
players tend to camp a lot. Although having big respect for how it always was
in BFME series, it became clear to us that bold actions are to be taken in
order to create a truly competitive game.
First thing we did was borrowing HARVEST system
from forefathers of the genre. Like in any other RTS, harvesting is the most
important part of BFME:Tactics. Difference is that now you need to send workers
to a mining shaft in order to collect your resources. As you probably already
guessed, you can run out of them, so you have to be more active and secure more
bases in order to survive.
New harvesting system brought another change.
You don't have big fortresses in the beginning. You start with small warehouse
where you can hire more shaft-workers, builders who actually build stuff (that
is 2 different type of workers at this moment) and scouting hero. You can also
buy an upgrade for your shaft-workers to harvest better. Farms have been
changed aswell - they now only give command points, not money.
Another change we are currently testing is
power point gathering system. The idea of the change: on certain point of the
map spell book respawns. The player who gets it first and brings back to his
fortress (not warehouse) receives 2 power points. We believe it might add
highly dynamical competitive experience.
New system of outposts
We completely processed system of outposts from
BFME and ideally entered them in our new gameplay. Now there are three types of
outposts. After you secure an outpost area you have to decide what kind of
outpost you need to build (whether attacking, defending or economical type).
New system of command points
For receiving bigger quantity of command points it is necessary not only to
build more farms, but also to seize territories.

Hey man, i downloaded the mod and set it up but when i get into game there are no models for anything and text problems with coding and such may of been bad download but thought i should mention it ^_^ on a positive note i love the launcher
Guys just wanted to say that I LOVE what you did with the mod. Honestly it is something I would like to do myself if I had the skills and the time. The approach of making it more warcraft/starcraft alike in which you can pretty easily rush an undefended enemy base is awesome and I approve such thing. Still trying to get used to it but may I ask a question? Do Mordor farms increase your resources rate or only affect the supply points?I won't ask more related to economy macro management because I want to find it for myself :D Great work, from what I can say so far!
Hmm I'll give my quick insight on what the mod has, its strong points and weak points.
PART 1
- First of all I wanted to underline that easy mode seems broken. Not sure if intended but the AI starts with double your resources(I played with 1000 on start and so the AI had 2000) and therefore it's impossible, or "quite a challenge" to even contest the victory points for more supply - bigger army.
Now straight to the mod:
Visuals and presentation.
- I find the launcher really polished and well presented. That itself gives right away the impression the mod had attention and care while being developed. Truth to be told, the mod is marvellous and well optimized as far as I know. Visually looks impressive, specially for a game that is getting its first white hairs. The textures are great and the unit/building models are detailed and pretty.
PART 2
- Now, I can't go really deep but I will try to describe how much I felt about it with only 2 hours of gameplay. This mod is not as ambitious with units as, for example Edain. It doesn't have many heroes. (As far as I know you only have 1 hero per faction excluding gollum which I will come to that later)nor some epic varied systems. Mordor and Gondor are different factions, with different playstyles but one can't ignore the fact that they do seem similar in unit structure. It seems like the units are planned in a way to allow for an easier game balance, with "mirror roles" and obvious counters all across the board. The heroes only function as supports units, so you should not just throw them at the enemy and expect them to survive more than 5 seconds in the middle of their army. I don't see any problem with this, but it surely seems like there is some lack of varity in gameplay. Warcraft 3, for example, has many variety in units and builds to play. Besides you had your different heroes that changed the way you would approach your strategy for that match. Starcraft 2 doesn't have heroes but has really unique units, from alien tech user to mechanized armor. In this case we only have bland melee units or trolls/werewolves with their own role and attack type, but sadly don't qualify them to be extremely "exotic" in the playstyle. You'll have to build them at some point if the game drags on. It's not a choice, it's a necessity.
Part 3
Well this is taking longer than I thought so I let's wrap it up with gollum, towers and victory points as quickly as I can. Well, just like in the normal game you'll find gollum roaming around the map but if you (almost) kill him, he doesn't drop the One. Instead, he joins you and his role is to steal economy from your enemy's victory points. I still have to look deeper into this to see how much it affects a match.Yes, this means there are no ring heroes, no Sauron and no galadriel, for Balancing sakes I'd guess. It's a game design that I won't question but it doesn't feel sweet in my mouth as I'd like it to. Now we have towers. Towers are extremly bulky and overpowered. I think they should be toned down a bit. The only way you can defeat and enemy that has 3+ towers in his base is by being extremely ahead of him (Which I doubt. If so you'd have won way before he managed to get the towers up.) and overwhelming his base with your troops and then with pikes/siege units you get those towers down, or by exploiting the fact that he invested economy on towers and not on units for map control purposes
Part 4
If you fail to do that and you get all game on a 50/50 conflict, you'll at some point not be able to do anything about those towers. Now victory points. You have some books that spawn in the middle of the map and you'll have to fight with your opponent to get control over them. I think the mod devs explained how those worked in some news here so you should go read (as I should aswell) because I have no idea what they do xD Two hours are not enough to quite get it on. You have to fight aswell for some zones on the map that you are able to build your camp there and get boosts of supply/defenses/ more buildings to build troops.
Part 5 and final part finally xD
One thing that I did not quite understand is to why at 30 minutes of gameplay, my and his (AI bot) workers disappeared and our income declined to null. This makes sense in games where you can fight for another base locations, but not in this where the tournament map doesn't offer even economic victory points for you to squeeze until it's last drop. Not sure if this is a bug or if it is intended but it seems quite off to me.
Overall I think this is a great well polished mod and it's going in a good direction but needs some more features to get the player's grip.

When i start the game appear a message , could not found english patch 201.big , but in the lang folder english patch201.big it's present ! Help !

When i start playing it takes about 6 secs and then all enemies are just instantly defeated so i cant even start building
