Friday News: Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Hey guys, Sorry, that I let out the friday update last week. I was too busy with my Minecraft texture pack. It derped around on my PC since half of a year, and I finally wanted to release it. But nevertheless, here are the topics for this news:

-Now, you can see falling the snow down on our map :)
-A new skybox-texture
-The layout of the first checkpoint
-A new model: Wooden house

First the snow

We always wanted that it snows in our map. So I searched a little bit around and found a good effect :). The only thing is: You can't see it in the editor, only in-game. But our map isn't finished yet, but I hope I can show you some in-game footage in the next weeks. To show you, how it looks, I found a pic of another mod, which uses the same effect:


There are 2 different types of snow: Hard and light snow. How the snow is used, depends on the map location. If we have a spot for snipers, we'll only use light snow, as hard snow would make the sniper nearly invisible.

The new skybox

As this mod plays in the rocky mountains, we needed a fitting skybox-texture too. So I found a pretty good one at cgtextures.com. But this texture wasn't tiled. So, after gimping around for 1h, I finally made it tiled. Does look pretty good.

The more difficult thing was it, to implement it into Bf2. After messing around with 100s of different programms, I finally made it :D. Here are some in-game screenshots:

Still gonna have to fix some ugly details like this here:

The layout of the first checkpoint:

It's the checkpoint lake. Here is a screenshot of the basic design:

Yeah, the ice texture looks totally like rubbish, but it's only for demonstration purposes ;). I'm gonna show you a better texture next week :). Also, there are missing the boat in the lakes. This should also come in the next few weeks. But I hope this gives you a general idea of the layout.

Mapmodel: The house.

That's my first mapmodel, which is completly enterable. It has no texture though, but
next week, it will be there, promise! The house is, as I said fully enterable. It has to plattforms, which are conected by some stairs, comparable to the houses of BfBc2. It's also still to large. Nearly double as large as I wanted it :D. Some screenies:
