The Battles of the Third Age (BOTTA) mod is a mod for The Battle for Middle Earth - The Rise of the Witch King. This mod tends to follow the lore of books and films along with bringing the realism in the gameplay, and generally concentrates of the happenings in the Third age of Middle Earth
The ideas, the modelling & the dedication/effort put so far in to the project are astonishing.
Sadlly the mod in it's current state is not being developed "fast enough" and don't get me wrong here, I do admire the work and dedication put in to the project, however I don't believe that it has as much potential as it could have if it actually had a team working behind it (The author is 1-man army don't get me wrong, but it's already falling in Edain mod's shadow...)
To author: Please don't take what I enlisted abowe as an unconstructive critic, rather consider this little idea: "Botta being implemented in to the Edain(=bigger Bfme2 mod developed by so called Edain team -> I am not associated with the team in anyway: THIS IS NOT AN ADVERTISEMENT) mod (as an addon or full on expansion)"
or of course try to come up with something new inovative or perhaps search for a new idea (ask your fans perhaps).

this is strong mod i need to complete the full version of mod BOTTA
I would love to give this mod a higher rating (probably a 9 or 9.5) but I can't due to the bugs I consistently experience. Every time I start to get into the late game (about 25-30 minutes each time), the mod freezes and I have to ctrl-alt-del and force quit the game. I have not pirated the game (I bought BFME2 and ROTWK the days that they shipped), so I'm not experiencing the antipiracy glitch.
The units look really good and I haven't noticed any real balance issues. The new heroes and the revisions to the heroes have been done really well. And the way that units have been implemented are also very cool and fun to experiment with. But I don't have much time to do it since the game freezes and I cannot even finish the match...
This mod is just awesome. I mean, I cannot begin to express how much this mod is in terms of awesome. The factions are all great to play and the AI is now a worthy foe for you to battle against in Skirmish mode. Plus you can do the Angmar Campaign.
One of the best mods i have ever played. Not to many bugs, great models and original ideas.
What more could you ask for!
Clearly one of the best mods for bfme series. Good ideas, concepts and clearly the lotr feel. I enjoyed this mod quite a lot and I recommend it to everyone.
