i'd like to suggest that super battle droid be seperated (i know they are already) into a smaller, shiny, more agile variant like we see in episode 2, and a big, slow, dirty looking, clumbsy, high hp behemot we see in SW: republic commando

also an idea about ammo... just leaving it out there:

If you overheat the weapon, you need to change your energy cell (let's say every unit has 1 spare energy cell, or 2 for elite units, since apparently they can last forever if properly rationed). And the former ammo packs can contain 1 energy cell each. This could apply for non-special weapons

Unfortunately, SWBF2 has limitations when it comes to how ammo works.

There's two ammo systems ingame. The "overheat" system (used by pistols in the vanilla game), and the "clip" system (used by the rifles in the vanilla game. Ignoring that calling them clips is a misnomer, there is no way to tie overheating to the depletion of an energy cell.

You can use both the overheat and clip system, it's what I used to do for the Z-6 Rotary Cannon, but when you do that you do not get the overheating bar on the reticle (only the ammo tickets). Which means you are not warned when you're about to overheat, and why I don't use that anymore.

As for a smaller Super Battle Droid, I'll consider it.

that's too bad. I must say i personaly enjoy the clip system more, i feel more soldier-y, but playing mods like dark times does pull off the overheat system, which i am told is lore correct. I just miss the reloading animation i guess, like if you had to trigger reload animation once you overheat.

Concerning the droids, in order to better describe what 2 variants or battle droids i mean:
-the human sized fast version from geonosis

-the dusty reinforced outdoor walking turret
Youtu.be
which i believe they used in clone wars also
Youtu.be
which looks so heavy i imagine it would be as clumbsy as controlling a veichle. Either way would love to see the dirty armor texture for a change :)

love what you are doing btw it's a great mod idea, with a good fan base for a game that can pull off the look of the series

Good progress so far.

Don't know what to say about the side-wide heal on the republic side. I'd probably have to play it myself.

To address your little "Peanut Gallery", I see the new Battlefront going one of 3 ways:

1: EA's gonna rush it all to hell, pouring the lion's share of the budget into advertising and whips to use on the dev team, resulting in a buggy, _blatantly_ unfinished product. (But then, what else is new?)

2. It's gonna be a mediocre, competent game that will be generally decently received, but certain business practices will still be hanging around like the smell of a trash compactor that hasn't been emptied for a month.

3. It'll be a pretty awesome game, marred by its publisher-exclusive platform (*cough* Origin *cough*), and quite possibly also suffer those same business practices.

I never liked the Disney-EA agreement, whole thing strikes me with a pretty blatant lack of research on Disney's part. Find the biggest publisher in existence and give them the job. Even a simple google search would probably show no less than 2000 hate-articles on them.

In any case, I see this mod in the way that Jim Sterling and Ben Croshaw see lower-profile titles in the off seasons, snacky bits of content to tide us over for the big releases.

Sweet, merciful crap did this one turn blog-tastic.
