Ballmen is a total-conversion for Half-Life 2 featuring frenetic, fast-paced deathmatch with a unique twist: wallwalking. Essentially, any surface is traversable, including walls and ceilings. Combine that with eight weapons and a host of power-ups, and you get Ballmen. The mod is currently in beta stages. Visit our website for more information. Beta 1.5 now available for download.

Ballmen's next public beta (1.5) is imminent, set for release on April 20th and featuring new content, balance changes, and bugfixes. We've also got a snazzy new website to show off. In addition, we are looking for community members to contribute to the effort, whether it's a Ballmen server, custom map, or just their feedback.

Beta 1.5 of Ballmen will be available for download on Sunday, April 20th, three days from now. In addition to balance changes and minor gameplay tweaks, Beta 1.5 features several new maps, some early custom sounds, and a plethora of bugfixes and improvements to the code. Cosmetically, little has changed, so we don't have any sexy new media to show off just yet.

If you haven't heard of or tried Ballmen yet, check out the current Beta 1.0 (you can download it here on Moddb). The basic gist is blisteringly fast classic deathmatch with a huge twist - our unique wallwalking, allowing the player to orient himself so any direction is down. Ballmen has eight weapons, any two of which can be simultaneously equipped and used, as well as a variety of pick-up abilities. If you like deathmatch, this mod is for you. If you like the feeling of your brain melting because the insanity of high-speed chases in all six degrees of freedom is just too much for it to handle, this mod is for you too.

We'd also like to announce that our new website recently went online: Ballmenmod.com. In addition to the usuals like media and download links, there is a comprehensive player's manual so you can jump into the game prepared. Add us to your Mod Watch if you haven't already and stay tuned for the 1.5 download and media on Sunday.

How YOU can help improve Ballmen:

Although we are not looking for more core developers, we sure don't mind content contributions (you will be credited if it gets used). We particularly could use custom textures for mapping, weapon sounds, and custom maps, the best of which will be included in future releases. We are also in need of individuals or clans to host additional dedicated game servers.

For those of you without mod development skills or loads of extra cash to blow on a server, fear not; we need you too. Comments, suggestions, bug reports, and general feedback from the player base are much appreciated, whether you post them here on Moddb or join our fledgling forum community. Most importantly, though, just play Ballmen!
