Installing Delorean and Train Sounds using Nullpointers Thread - Back to the Future: Hill Valley mod for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Currently there are two audio editors for gta. GTA3 Audio Editor, which this mod has currently, and Nullpointer's. This tutorial is to show how to change the sounds of the time machines to something more appropriate for them instead of plane and lawnmower sounds. Since this can't really have an installer, I decided to post it here.

First off, you need to download Nullpointer's tool here

Extract all the files to your gta audio folder like so

After that run audext.exe and wait. This process takes a long time, as there are close to 10,000 files needed to be extracted. And yes, it's normal to have a blank screen. It will close when it is finished. It took me 3 minutes before all files were extracted, but it can be 5 minutes or more, so be patient and do not exit out.

Should look something like this after the window closes out.

Now, just drop all the sounds (deluxo, flying delorean, train) to this folder and each should overwrite something.

Download the sfx.inf file from the following link and replace the one in the audio folder with this one.

After that, run audimp.exe, which should take about another 5 minutes or so to import all those files, and like the other program, will close automatically when it is finished.

After it's done, delete all the sfx files created if you want to save disk space, and you are done! Happy Sound Installing

Edited to include my sfx.inf file as a download rather than replacing lines manually.

I'm probably the only one having this problem but the gta3 audio installer says that the sfx.sdt file access is denied and audext in this installer also WILL NOT WORK! jesus christ i seem to be the only one with any sort of problem like this...

seriously what the hell... i even got the gta3 audio installer to work somewhat for a while then on my like third file it started having i/o errors then even only on the first file it has i/o errors now whatever the hell that means...

yes, it does not work. That really helps in pinpointing the error.

Well i as as specific as i could be given what information i was given, anywho i got it to work.

you could have mentioned if the program gave you that microsoft error, computer froze, or it just exited out and stuff. Just saying it did not work does not help at all. It's like calling tech support and saying, my computer don't work. Ok. What exactly doesn't work?

I get up to the step where you need to start the audext.exe but everytime i start it the stupid window pops up the one that tells you the porogram is frozen with the Send Error Reoprt and Dont Send buttons. I have downloaded Nullpointers like 3 times and nothing works

P.S. My files didnt look like that on the first step, they were put into alphabetical order. Dose that have something to do with it?

try the old way. If not, then I have no clue. Those are the only two programs that can install sounds.
