Hello! Today we decided to introduce you to the process of creating one of the "key locations" - The Church.
"Key locations" will be fundamental in our campaign. These locations have a great attention to details, lighting and gameplay. All Panic Event, which causing waves of infected, located precisely in "key locations".
We have uploaded screenshots of 3 main steps of creating this location. As a result, you can see the beta version of the church with a fifty percent of detailisation. In this condition, church remains to the moment, when the new prop model will be ready. After that, using new models and gradually increasing detailisation, we are going to completely finish the church.
Step 1: Brushwork
In the first step, we fully create the geometry of the future location using only dev-textures. This is perhaps the most longest and complicated step. To simplify it, we try to use photos of real places and buildings (that's what we did in this location), but it is not always possible and you have to fantasize.
Step 2: Textures
On second step we cover all location with textures, and also we impose some overlays (for example the tablet for a toilet). This step is not very complicated, but so is tiresome!
Step 3: Models
This is how the church looks like after placing models and some other details. It is about fifty percent of detalisation. Some models are missing (will be added later), some models - just placeholders (like benches). In the final version, church will be a place of defense, so the windows will be boarded up, furniture moved, there will be remnants of food and sleeping bags. Generally you are going to see signs of other survivors, who defended the church.
