Back to Basics is a full conversion mod for Company of Heroes and its expansions. The aim of the mod is to create an environment that respects the nature of the original Company of Heroes gameplay, while enhancing its core features that put focus on tactics, proper decision making, and player skill. Along with new units, abilities, upgrades, and command trees, the mod features an entirely new weapon damage model and hitpoint dynamics, as well as brand new gameplay mechanics. Back to Basics AI is proudly unique and advanced. All AI systems have been worked on and improved, to the point of creating a completely new AI battle experience. Reasoning:
Wehrmacht Defensive Doctrine received some tweaks and redesigns making it a more viable choice next to Terror and Blitzkrieg. Besides this, Defensive Doctrine was the only Commander Tree in the game without a unique Infantry unit.
Sturmpioneers are essentially Grenadiers with a touch of Pioneers added in. However, once upgraded with STG44 Assault Rifles, they become formidable assault units, especially when combined with Bundled Grenades. As of v4.0, they are the only unit in the game who can salvage wrecks for munitions.
