I was wondering if the bomber dying would be an issue. What kind of damage does the bomb do? If its explosive, we could possibly make the bomber have resistance to it via a property.

So glad to see this was implemented to the mod.

the atomic bomb uses flame damage-- if I create a special flame-resistance that would solve the atomic-bomb self-inflicted kill. of course, I changed the special op "Aerial Interception" to 2000 points of blast damage effect in anticipation of this sort of problem. if we give the atomic bomber immunity to flame damage I think it would solve the problem.

Just make it so that the bomb doesn't effect friendly units in the area. The bomber wont blow up.

This is done very easily by changing the target of the damage.

But, I think if the player has nearby units (other than the bomber), they should still be affected. Can't imagine anything that would survive a nuclear blast, lol.

gave the bomber extra health, in accordance with a new stat system. it can now survive more than one bombing pass and deliver multiple atomic bombs. so, I think I'd rather keep it so the bomber dies instantly!

Maybe, now that we understand the mana system, we can ensure that it only makes one pass.

Description

work in progress-- but I've added B-29 Atomic bombers to the United States. the airfield requires special tech research, costs $600 to recruit the truck, and costs $500 per sortie. the atomic bomber can't be escorted, so you have to have aerial supremacy over the target before sending the bomber. there is only one bomber per field. this was done to help keep the field from being over-powered... and to prevent players from winning with this field alone.

one glitch is that the animation happens twice-- not sure how to fix that. another problem is that the bomber kills itself every time it drops the bombs. so it's strictly a 'one-way ticket'. it's not as powerful as the new special op atomic weapon-- but it can be used with far greater frequency. don't bother recruiting this airfield unless you have a very strong economy! since this airfield doesn't have any fighters it's extremely vulnerable to ground attacks and enemy bombers. best to hide it behind some regular airfields to help keep it safe.

it also sucks up 50 units of ammo and oil per field-- another reason to wait for a very powerful economy before purchasing one of these fields.
