Links to the steam workshop download and our discord can be found in the description! Awakening of the Rebellion is a total overhaul of Forces of Corruption. Inspired by the old RTS Star Wars: Rebellion, AotR brings many features from this game and other titles such as a more in-depth mission system, tech system, and many new units! Immerse yourself in the Galactic Civil War era as the fledgling Rebellion, the oppressive Empire, or the criminal Black Sun pirates. This mod is not for the feint of heart and will test your RTS skills with a completely overhauled AI and difficulty. Versions newer than 2.6 can be found on the steam workshop only (due to issues with the non-steam versions)

Hi to all AotR fans.

After Awakening of the Rebellion first saw
the light of the world in july 2006 and impressed fans and press alike,
your favorite mod has gone through quite some changes. AotR 1.1 was
followed by 2.0 with quite some trouble. While it featured content for
FoC for the first time as well as a new faction – the Black Sun, 2.0
was filled with bugs which really impaired the experience.

Despite of
that, AotR 2.0 was the most successful mod to date and received a lot
of patches and hotfixes to make the game as it was supposed to be.
After that, a phase of silence followed, in which the team reorganized
and set their goal to push the frontier of what was already a good mod
further again. 2.04 was the result of these efforts, sporting unique
new features and scripts.

With the release of 2.5 this
january, Awakening of the Rebellion is finally at the end of its
journey. The mod has become what it was supposed to be.

Of
course there were a lot of ideas and improvements in the past which
have been intended yet ultimately removed, be it because of personnel
shortcomings or just plain impossibility. Come to think of it, the Zhar
missions alone took four to five weeks to complete – remember: this is
only just one mission!

Also, a lot more galactic conquests
were were planned to be filled with scripts. Yet, those were cancelled
due to personnel shortcomings. The ambitious project to give every
planet new maps was also cancelled due to the atrophy of mappers in the
ranks of the EaW/FoC community. Well, it might sound like an excuse to
only blame the lacking number of modders, but it is a sad fact. Only
three people are currently working on the 2.5 patch, and the more
spare time and energy is put into the project, the lower the motivation
falls.

Despite of that we are very proud of AotR. No Mod has
such cool events and the Star Wars atmosphere is gigantic, which is
even more obvious if you compare the Mod to the original EaW. We would
personally be very happy to make it into the Top 100 Mod of the Year
Award list once more, to honor the mod for a last time.

But
this is of course not the end of SMG, we will just change our
priorities. At this time we are working on the Advanced Units Mod for
FoC as well as on an unannounced project. So, what is there left to
say. I, as well as the whole team want to thank you for your loyalty,
ideas, interest and engagement for the Mod. Do not give up hope, 2.5
will strongly improve AI as well as game mechanics. And smaller
graphical changes and Addons will continue to be released in the
future. After the Release of 2.5 I will create a manual to make it
accessible to everyone.

Salute,The AotR Team
