We have stopped the development of Aurora. It's the 21st November 2138: A SOS arrived at NATO headquarter from a space colony. They sent out their new battleship Aurora to help them.

Report RSS Communications Satellite HCS MK. 3

Today we want to present you a new model, the Communications (and Reconnaissance) Satellite HCS. Our Modeler S4lz created this decorative model.

The Model has 7405 Polygons

S4lz created a solar panel animation for it:

History

The discovery of the hyperspace drive made traveling enormous distances possible. But these distances made communication between spaceships nearly impossible.
Therefore the US Army developed the first version of the HCS (Hyperspace Communications Satellite).
The HCS communicated with further HCS Satellites through a artificial wormhole.
But the enormous power consumption made it nearly impossible to send longer text messages.
The communication was very difficult to establish, so that only two satellites could communicate with each other. These disadvantages made the US Army develop a better version.
This time the satellite was developed and built by the NASA, it was called MK. 2. Now it was possible to stabilize the wormhole for a longer time, so that you could send small images and audio messages. The MK.2 was only a prototype, it was never built in mass-production.
The HCS MK.3 is the enhanced version of the MK.2. It has better energy modules, so the satellite can stabilized the wormhole nearly for an unlimited time.
The satellite is equipped with technics for secure transmissions, positioning and a high resolution camera. Now you can use this satellite for reconnaissance, too.

Until now, this satellite is only used be the military.

Usage

When a spaceship travels to other solar systems, it takes usually 2-10 HCS with it.
The will be deployed after the arrival the spaceship and they will send their position back to the master satellite in earth orbit.
Now both, Earth and the Spaceship can send their data.
